Thoughts to Moderators, Members, and Listeners that use the 35+ and Over Group Support Room

...See more Hello Community! It has come to my attention that our 35+ and Over Group Support Room has been a little hectic lately. I wanted to write my thoughts, suggestions, and clarify a few things in the air. While the purpose of this room is to be inclusive to anyone who is aged 35 and over, it appears in the group support chat room list for all ages 18+. With this being said, anyone including, members, listeners, moderators, and admin can access this room. The purpose of the room is to provide a safe space for anyone who 35+ to chat with one another, but we also face the problem of the room being accessible by anyone who is aged 18 or older. I have heard from several members that they have been receiving warnings when they enter this room because they are under 35 years old. I want to make sure that we all understand that under no circumstances, there is a rule against someone entering the room that is under the age of 35, and no warnings should be issued unless another valid rule is broken, i.e. Unsupportive, Inappropriate Language, etc. The rule #11 is for people who are under the wrong age group on the account level, not group support room level. With this in mind, if a teen (Ages 15-17) enters any adult rooms, this rule would apply to them as the account is on the wrong side. Additionally, this would apply to any adults in the teen group support rooms. I want to make sure this is followed by all moderators to maintain consistency of group support rules. How can we move forward using the 35+ Group Support Room? Moving forward, I know our community can come together and support one another in the support room. It will still have the same focus on the 35+ age group, but we also need to be courteous to other members, and listeners entering the room, and treat them like we would anyone else. It still is a support room, and I hope we can all support each other here and every other support room. What about trolls? Trolls are very common in an online community unfortunately. @Heather has a great post on Open Discussion: Trolling + Cool Video! My views on trolls are as follows: I always instruct the room to disengage with them, mute them, and report them. If no moderator is present in the room, please open the chat room rules, and click on the moderator emergency form, fill it in, and submit it for an on call moderator to come to the room. Please note that it may be a few minutes for us to receive those on call requests and response. Muting the troll is the best option to combat this until the moderator arrives. A last note: Overall I know we can achieve our goals on 7 Cups! I have been seeing a therapist for over a year now, and Dillion has done more for me, in a matter of 30 minutes, they my therapist has in a year! Show this guy some respect, he earned it!
