...See more Recently got told by my psychiatrist that I have PTSD and need to see a therapist to really work through that. What happens in therapy to help someone work through it? Is therapy my only hope of working through it?

...See more I was “sexually assaulted” May 2016 by a former coworker. It’s a complicated situation because I said no and I was extremely drunk, but I also kissed him back. I didn’t realize what it was until someone else called it “rape”. But what if he doesn’t know that’s what it was because I kissed him back? I don’t feel hatred or anger towards him because I feel like he didn’t know. But then I remember about how bruised I was from him being so rough. It hurt to sit for at least 2 days afterwards. I don’t know. Will I ever really get over it? I’ll think I’m fine and then out of the blue, it’s just on repeat in my head. And then I have dreams about being raped. Sometimes he’s in my dreams. Other times it’s just some stranger attacking me and I can’t get away and I feel it and have to go through it seeming so real in my dream. And I have nobody to talk to about this. I can’t even talk to my husband about this because I worry it makes him uncomfortable and we’ve both basically agreed in the past that if I hadn’t gotten so drunk and ended up there, it wouldn’t have happened. I know I got myself into that situation and I know better. I hardly knew these people. I had only been working there less than a month and had never drank like that before. I know if I hadn’t made those choices, it wouldn’t have happened. But knowing that other people think that too still hurts me. Especially after the way some people responded when I confided in them. One of my parents brushed it off and said that I probably learned my lesson after that. Responses like that still eat at me and hurt. I’m sorry for rambling. Thank you to anyone that takes the time to read this mess.
