I have had depression of some form since 1998. I am disabled and that year after I had graduated high school I went to another place for vocational training. It was about 150 miles from home I had to go through a 3 day orientation and the first 2 days were OK, but the 3rd day they took us to a Home Depot for what they called a "job site tour", well on the way there I saw a road sign that said how far I was from home and it made me upset. Luckily at that time a guy in my orientation group who told me a joke and brought me out of myself, but I just figured "OK, you're homesick already no big deal" well it just never got totally better. I mean the weekends I was home I was ok but then went I had to go back i wasn't so ok. That continued the whole 9 months I was out there it was like that. But even when I graduated from that place and was home for good it didn't get any better. So, I'm thinking what I thought was just homesickness was really the beginning of depression.
