Howdy. I am a middle aged man and have joined this site to work on my listening and councelling skills.
I have had a long career as a programmer but recently after turning 50 have gotten more and more burned out from it and want to make a career change. I signed up for this site actually on the advice of ChatGPT, as a way to try volunteering as a sort of councilor. I live in a small town and there are few actual volunteer opportunities here.
I have a long history of anxiety and lately just plain old worry. Mostly from my kids growing up and moving away. I would say going along with that there is a lot of regrets, purposelessness, and other things I'm sure.
Anyways enough said I guess. I'm not that interested in talking about myself on here, rather in listening and helping as above.
