Hello, I am Sal (or Sala, or bouncy), an 20 y/o Verified Listener from India, whose Tamil and Hindi are a bit rusty.
I listen to music and write in my free time. I am working on a particularly abstract piece~

I usually have a conversational listening style, but if you are looking for a space to express everything on your mind, uninterrupted-you're quite welcome!

Please feel free to let me know of any expectations you have of me/the chat. All feedback is appreciated! :)

I do not mind chats relating to sexual topics, reproductive health, or traumatic experiences, as long as you (the member texting me) remember that I am here, only in a listening capacity. I will, however, inform you if I believe the experience is too intense, for me to handle, and I request you to respect that.

Please note that I am not accepting any chats that pertain to violence in the family (domestic violence.)

@Rebekah is one of the most passionate and organized people I have met on 7Cups. Their ability to manage and move forward on multiple fronts, never ceases to amaze me, and a "Tee hee" from them could (I dare say) make your day!

@aeris156 is one of those people who can always spark an interesting conversation. Their thoughts are super-fascinating, to say the least, and I am incredibly grateful for having the opportuntity to speak with, and get to know them.

I honestly can't believe that I've know you for more than one and a half years now, feels like it was much shorter :') In the time that I have known you for, I feel like I've come to appreciate multiple parts of you -- from the you who was super-excited/enthusiastic when we met, to the sort of more-composed person I feel you've grown to be, all while maintaining a ton of responsibilities on the side. One thing that's struck out to me in our conversations, is how even if you take a while to reply/get back, there's infectious energy in your texts, that's sort of able to subliminally instil a genuine desire to continue the conversation. There really is never a dull moment, even when we're speaking about seemingly-obscure things like powdered elaichi (or should I say, especially when we're speaking about seemingly-obscure things like powdered elaichi?) and I feel like I would not be wrong if I were to say that I've enjoyed every moment of it. I appreciate how supportive a being you are, how you've shown belief in me, and how understanding and compassionate you've been over the past year (but if the year is too long a trip down memory lane, I needn't even look beyond the past week). How you possess the ability to be appreciative of the tiniest things is also (seriously) beyond me. Thank you for being there. As you're growing older, I hope that the coming year is filled with moments that you would have hoped for. As for today :P, once again, a happy happy birthday, twinno. I honestly have no clue on where to begin, but I feel like a good place to start would be with how dedicated/involved you appear to be in the things you take up/believe in. In the relatively short time for which I had worked with you, I got the sense that you really put in an amazing level of effort (if not going all in) on the things you care about, consistently, and that felt really inspiring. It's something that has since left a strong mark on me! Roles aside, it's been an absolute pleasure to be able to know/interact with you as a person/listener. ...See more As a person who has been through something traumatic-we may often look to writing, as an outlet, for emotions we believe inexplicable or unjustified to the world around us, to express our frustration on how the people around as-can rarely seem to comprehend the impact an event(s) had on us. Expressing how we feel following an event, could feel relieving-as though, something heavy in our heart just lost a little of its weight. At 7Cups, within the Trauma Community, We have our very own Journalling [https://www.7cups.com/forum/TraumaSupport_60/JournallingStories_318/] sub-forum wherein members can find a safe place to express all that they wish to. Switching sides, as someone who has only recently begun reading posts in the Sub-Community, I can imagine as to how knowing of someone who has been through an experience and feels similarly, can provide a sense of solace and companionship. Reading through their posts, in the most unexpected parts, you may find validation for what you feel. Books, and more so, biographies of people who have experienced distressing incidents-may have a similar effect. Away from the intriguing world of biopics-genres like fiction and short stories have shown to immensely help children in war-stricken areas of the world [https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/17/opinion/syria-refugee-children.html], and feel traumatized. In imagining a storyline being narrated-you are also able to subconsciously describe parts of it, in a manner that you choose to. To a lot of people, reading can be a reminder of an activity they used to do prior to an event that changed them, and a symbol of an act that may remain possible in the present. That being said, it is important to remember that reading is not the easiest thing to do-when you have faced an event that affects you immensely. It is well-recorded that those who have experienced a traumatic event, can find it hard to focus while reading.
