My Leadership Projects: Support Team Leader for Addiction Support, Jr Community Mentor for Anxiety, Addiction Support Discussion Leader on Thursdays from 3-4pm EST, Addiction Support Open Chat Leader on Wednesdays from 11pm-12am EST
I'm passionate about helping people in need and am currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree with a major in Psychology and minor in Sociology. I've spent most of my career working with youth with special needs and have recently been spending much of my time volunteering with a local peer-based harm reduction group.
I'm happy to chat about whatever's on your mind but I have the most knowledge in the areas of anxiety and panic attacks, drug/alcohol use and harm reduction, autism, ADHD, chronic illnesses and disabilities, coping with strong emotions, sexual orientation and gender identity, and post-traumatic stress.
Please note that I take 1-1 chats in 1 hour time blocks. I do this to make sure that everyone has a chance to be listened to. I'll let you know when there are 10 minutes remaining in your chat so it's easier to start wrapping things up.
Looking forward to hearing from all you lovely people. It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help when you need it. Through our struggles, we can learn how to harness our strengths
Hello. I am here, because being here helps me. When I find myself capable enough to listen to someone and connect with someone, and as I help someone feel better, I feel a bliss in me. I am here for that bliss. Let us feel that bliss sometime, if we get lucky sometime. Even if not, I wish a good life and good times for anyone who comes across the profile and read this intro. : )

Activity Scheduling Activities can be connected to the way you feel. If you track feelings of depression, you may discover that when you are depressed you are more passive and less active. Following the observation that depressed people tend to stop doing pleasurable activities, depression treatments often emphasize increasing the weekly number of pleasurable activities. Additional ways to improve mood:
Surround yourself with people who have a positive impact on you
Invest in friendships and have a “go to” person that you can trustBecome more forgiving - forgive yourself and forgive others
Build on areas of strength and note evidence for new beliefs that replace old negative beliefs (praise yourself for things you accomplish)Keep a gratitude journal

Understanding what depression is begins the journey toward recovering from depression. You may not realize that depression symptoms are not just emotional. Depression is much more than a low mood, feeling sad, and being irritable. There are cognitive (e.g., self-criticism and hopeless thoughts), behavioral (e.g., isolating from others and having difficulty ’getting started’ with activities), and physical (e.g., sleep problems and change in appetite) symptoms as well. The mind and body are very much connected, and the way that depression affects someone demonstrates that strong connection.
