@Nevada71 I searched the Internet for "listening without interrupting" and found a lot of guidance. Here's just one of the links: Experts Say These 11 Hacks Can Help You Be A Better Listener In Just 3 Days Personally, I think number 5 in that list is the most useful.

Focus on the sound of their voice as if your life depended on it. Remember they wont feel important and it makes you appear to be a know it all.

Maybe look up active listening. Once the person has finished speaking you are going to rephrase what they just said and not launch into what you want to say straight away.

Also try and count to 2 for example, once they’ve finished before you reply.

Most people, including myself can become better listeners.

Hi.. I have struggled with this issue as well, with my adult children..but whether I'm speaker or interrupter.. i have found this almost always solves the prob.First, (won't work without) both u and the other person(s)verbally agree to a 50/50 effort- the speaker gets their chance to speak, (remember, if words sound like an attack, the listener will just attack back) AND the other 50% is the listener AGREES TO hear them out until they actually SAY they're done speaking..without interrupting..... if there's still interrupting on either part, or things escalate, talking should stop right away, I have said things like " if BOTH of us cant explain our view,,lets start this conversation over, OR Talk when we've cooled off"..chances are, both sides would prefer not to wait to feel heard, and might be more willing to listen. .especially if resolution is needed asap. If it's not truly urgent, taking a few days to think or writing feelings on paper, before speaking helps alot..Again, I know this was long but it has really helped our family relationships.
