A Rundown of 7 Cups Community Support Tracks (Domains)

The 7 Cups community is organized into various "tracks" or domains. Leaders often specialize in one or more of these areas, allowing them to focus their skills on specific parts to nurture our community.
Keep in mind this is not an exhaustive list! This is just an overview for those wondering about the different domains and the general purpose of each.
Quality
This track is dedicated to maintaining and improving the quality of listening and support on the site.
What it is: A group of volunteer listeners and leaders who are passionate about active listening and ensuring a high standard of care.
Leadership Roles: This track includes the Listener Coaching Team, which provides short-term support and skill-building for listeners, the Anonymous Evaluations (like a "secret shopper" program to assess listener skills), the Listener Verifier Team, which conducts mock chats to vet new listeners for the Verified Listener badge, and the Active Listening (AL) Team who process and grade the 4 active listening tests that are fundamental to listener growth.
Purpose: To provide continuous training and feedback, helping listeners feel more confident and effective in their roles, thereby ensuring a high level of support for members.
Forums
This track focuses on managing and fostering a healthy environment within the community forums.
What it is: The forums are a place for members to share stories, ask questions, and support one another in a written format. This track manages that space.
Leadership Roles: Forum Supporters are key here. They are leaders who focus on a few specific communities, maintaining engagement by posting and replying with compassion. More advanced leaders in this track, such as Community Mentors and Community Mentor Leaders are trained in both forum and group support roles to provide comprehensive oversight for a particular topic or community.
Purpose: To ensure the forums remain a safe, active, and supportive space for members seeking peer support.
Safety
This track is committed to protecting the well-being of all members and leaders on the platform.
What it is: A group of dedicated volunteers who are responsible for promoting and enforcing safety protocols across the site.
Leadership Roles: Roles within this track include the Safety Patrol, who proactively scan for inappropriate content, the Safety Outreach Team who create awareness and educate the community on safety best practices. There are also Safety Ambassadors who manage these teams and ensure that safety initiatives are being implemented effectively.
Purpose: To maintain a secure environment, educate the community on safety, and respond to reports of unsafe activity.
Group Support/Listener Chatrooms Track
This is one of the most visible leadership tracks, focusing on live, group-based support.
What it is: This track manages the member chatrooms, group support sessions, and the listener-only support rooms. It is a dynamic environment for collective support and community building.
Leadership Roles: Room Supporters and Group Mods are the primary roles. The track also has Chatroom Moderators and Mentors who are responsible for fostering a positive environment and guiding listeners.
Also for listeners, Chat Supporters are specifically trained to provide on-demand support to other listeners with chat situations, and Peer Supporters help after difficult chats.
Purpose: To provide a safe and effective space for group support, facilitated by trained leaders who guide conversations and ensure a supportive atmosphere.
Academy
This track is focused on education, training, and skill development for both listeners and leaders.
What it is: The 7 Cups Academy is a tuition-free institution that offers programs and courses to help users develop skills like active listening, leadership, and content marketing.
Leadership Roles: Leaders in this track serve as Academy Mentors and Academy Mentor Leaders who guide trainees through programs. They also include Project Agents who help develop and maintain course materials. These leaders are passionate about education and helping others grow.
Purpose: To train new listeners and leaders, ensuring the entire community is equipped with the necessary skills to provide high-quality support.
