The accent is surprisingly easy and its kind of similar to english and I already know a couple things memorized

Yep.
But it is very simlplified approach. Indeed, everything is much more complicated, but still they belong to the same languge family, have close origin and development, have a lot of lexical similarities and so on...
In short, from the point of view of the average lerner, if you know one of these languages, the second one is much easier to learn.

My first language is English and im part German my great grandparents only spoke German but I never met them

I'm incredibly jealous of anyone who's a native English speaker. 🧐I had to learn it, and that's when we were learning about the origins of languages.
By the way, my great-grandfather is also German, but he's from Austria, where I've never been, but I know a little German, maybe like you. 😊

But if I sit down with textbooks, i think, I'll quickly be able to write some sentences and coherent phrases. Because I even wrote letters in German once, though that was a long time ago and my grammar and vocabulary were quite simple.

I feel good yeah, I mean I have almost every white country in me, like England, Ireland, Scotland, Whales, Germany, Australia, and 2 others but i cant remember. Im mostly English and German. But I was born and raised in the US

My other grandparents who were German were named Caroline Kruz and Carl "Charlie" Kruz(Carl is Victor's brother)

Kruz can be derived from kreuz wich means "a cross"

Hey good for you Duolingo is loads of fun I do German Italian Spanish French and Greek on there it's really helped me to learn basic convosations.
