Hobby Zone Check in: Week of Nov 7-13 - World Kindness Week
Hello hobby zoners! November is getting underway and this week marks World Kindness Week, capped off by World Kindness Day on Nov 13th! There are many ways our hobbies can play into the various activities and small acts of kindness that are the theme of this week. We can use spare yarn to knit or crochet up hats, scarves, mittens, even blanket squares or socks that we then donate to those who may need them. We can cook or bake and share it with our neighbours or others. There are so many kinds of small acts of kindness, and we can use our hobbies as motivation too.

Questions:
-
So, can you think of an act of kindness that you have done for another, or another has done for you?
-
Do you have any hobbies you could use to make items to donate or raise money for charity? Is that something you feel able to give this world kindness week?
-
Did you know there is another special day this week? It’s our very own @MistyMagic ‘s Cupsversary on Wednesday, so I hope you will join me in thanking her for all she’s done in her 5 years here on cups! Nothing small about that act of kindness! Hobby Zone group chat will be open at 12 Noon ET (Wed) for you all to come and say hello!

Aw, that’s an awesome cupversary milestone! As for the acts of kindness, my main creative hobby is drawing and painting. I have painted a few postcards on heavy watercolor paper with glittering watercolors for my six year old daughter, to show her I love her and miss her between our days spent together. Likewise, she often surprises me with her own priceless works of art, which all go up on the wall next to my work area :) I sometimes end up feeling guilty for not making more postcards, which reminds me, I have one that I need to finish painting and mail off!
@ThadSterling That is fabulous sharing like that with your daughter. I have found some wonderful paper that is one sided watercolour rough on one (the outside to paint on) and smooth inside to write on, works well and it was a sheer fluke too! We saw some of your work, we should share some more :)

So, can you think of an act of kindness that you have done for another, or another has done for you?
I think that kindness may be subjective, what I think is kind someone else might not? Trying to pick one act is very difficult for me, I do know a kind persona when I meet them, or chat to them though, and that helps.
Do you have any hobbies you could use to make items to donate or raise money for charity? Is that something you feel able to give this world kindness week?
Yep knitting baby clothes, toys and making Christmas tree decorations that our local charity shop then sells.- hahahah! Yes 5 years! thank-you for pointing that out Emoo and it coincides with Wednesdays discussion woot! woot!

@MistyMagic
I would agree that kindness is often subjective so it can be hard to achieve an act of kindness if we aren't careful to listen to what another needs or considers kind. Sometimes kindness seems to be having that understanding and willingness to listen and learn what each person finds a kindness.
Knitted clothes and toys can definitely be a great way to give back, I'd love to see some of your Christmas tree decorations as well.
Once again congratulations and thank you for all your hard work over the past 5 years here on cups!
Thank you for checking in!

Yes 😊
or another has done for you?
Always 😉
Do you have any hobbies you could use to make items to donate or raise money for charity?
Yes, I do, but I don't have time this week to do anything so quickly. I'll look for other alternatives to get involved.
Is that something you feel able to give this world kindness week?
See the answer in the response to question 2. I also thank you for spreading kindness with this post 🙏

Happy Cupsversary Misty! I can't make it later at noon, but I made a tiny little e-card for you in less than 5 minutes to express my appreciation for you. Thank you for all you do for the community 💙

@Helpingheart23 Awww Heart! Thank-you for my card that is so pretty! I love the butterflies too ❤️

Happy Cupversary! I don’t have a card but I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do here, myself and many others have much better lives thanks to your kindness :)
Thankyou Thad, it was short notice or I would have expected a painted watercolor postcard! 😁
@ThadSterling
Thad, forget the e-card. I admire you for always being articulate, and you're so sincere that it always warms my heart when I read your responses on the forums. I also like how consistently you follow through with the 30 day challenge, and are so detailed about all your experiences during the challenge. I just wanted to let you know that you're a great person yourself. I love your presence here at 7 Cups, and I feel like you really add value everywhere you go.
@MistyMagic
I'm glad you like it, Misty 😊 Hope you have a restful weekend. Take care of yourself, and I'll see you around.
@Helpingheart23
It can indeed be hard to find the time for everything we want to do to help others, especially while making sure to take care of ourselves as well. I hope you are able to find ways to give that fit with your needs while spreading kindness to others!
Thank you for checking in!
@EmotionsListener
Hey Emo, thank you so much for being so caring and always wishing me well. You have my endless support, love and admiration 💛 (not in a creepy way of course, lol)

@Lou73
Offering to help others is definitely a way to spread kindness! Hobby related or not, kindness is important in whatever shape it takes!
I'm sure the person you volunteer with will be extra thankful for your thoughtful gift! 😊

So, can you think of an act of kindness that you have done for another, or another has done for you?
Recently, I was suffering from a fever and couldn't even walk or take a shower myself. I had no energy left in my body. During those days, even my fiance was having the viral flu. However, he made sure to visit me with some soup, fruits, and juices. 🥺♥️
It was truly so sweet of him as he was not only sick but it also started raining heavily as soon as he left his house to visit me. I still remember that he was all wet from top to bottom, carrying a shopping bag and a comforter tied up well enough within the plastic wrapper. (Just like a professional) 🙈
Yes, he's a sweetheart. I'm truly lucky to have him by the grace of The Almighty God! ♥️

I have been working for an NGO where our task was to voice record good moral stories for blind school and college-going students. Since I am fond of singing, it was pretty easy for me to complete that assignment in no time. I was delighted that my story-writing and singing skills could help me help children the way NGO wanted us to!
