When did you realize you were TRANS/BI, and what did you do next..... especially if you couldn’t come out yet?

recently realized I’m trans, but can’t come out yet. What did you do when you first realized...

I’m pretty sure about how I feel now, but there are still so many things I don’t know what to do with. I’m currently dealing with exams, family stuff, and the fact that coming out isn’t really an option for me right now. I’m in India too, so realistically I probably won’t be able to come out for at least a few more months.

So for now, I’m kind of in this weird in-between stage where I know something important about myself, but I can’t really do much publicly about it yet.

For those of you who realised you were trans, bi, or LGBTQ+ before you were able to come out, what did you do during that time? Did you explore your identity privately? Change little things about yourself? Keep a journal? Talk to someone? Just wait until you were ready?

I’d really love to hear what helped you during that period, especially from people who had to stay closeted for a while. I could definitely use some advice and ideas for getting through these next few months 🥹🏳️‍⚧️💗

@BlushNebula For me, it wasn’t really one sudden realization. It happened gradually over time. I started noticing that being referred to as a girl/woman felt really different from being called a boy, and I became more curious about feminine things and about what it would feel like to actually live as a girl.

Since I couldn’t come out yet, I started exploring privately instead. Little things at first feminine clothes when I was alone, experimenting with grooming, imagining myself as a girl, and eventually allowing myself to actually acknowledge those feelings instead of constantly questioning whether they were “real enough.”
The biggest change for me was mentally. Over time, I stopped treating femininity like some temporary escape or something I had to justify, and I started realizing that I was genuinely most comfortable thinking of myself as a girl. That was when I became much more certain that I was trans.
I’m still not out to everyone, so I’ve basically been taking things slowly and safely. I’ve found a few people I trust, while keeping a lot of my exploration private until I’m in a situation where coming out feels safe. Honestly, not being able to come out immediately doesn’t mean you can’t start figuring yourself out. You can take your time, experiment privately, and let yourself understand who you are before making any big decisions. 💗
