Leadership Spotlight: EmotionsListener

We’re closing up May and opening up June, Pride Month, with one of our excellent Community Leaders, @EmotionsListener!

EmotionsListener joined 7 Cups 2 years ago (2020) as of June 2nd!! She is a member and advocate of the LGBTQ+ community, a dedicated and well-loved listener, and a Chatroom Moderator for both the Newbie Hub and LGBTQ+ / MOGII Support SCs!

Why did you nominate EmotionsListener? She always recognizes and includes people in chat rooms, even when under her member account. She leads very fun and thoughtful discussions, specifically in the LGBTQ+ room. She has always been very kind and sweet to me in our private chats. Thank you for being awesome and keep up the good work! <3

A favorite quote or song? I have so many favourites, but the one that comes to mind at the moment is "No matter what we have come through, or how many perils we have safely passed, or how imperfect and jagged our life has been, we cannot in our heart of hearts imagine how it could have been different. Your proudest 7 Cups achievement: I'm not sure what my proudest achievement so far would be, but I am hoping that with time it will be my efforts to create an active, safe, and supportive space for LGBTQ+/MOGII members.

A fun fact about you: One ‘fun fact’ about me is that nearly every job I’ve ever done has been one where I was actually doing it unofficially and as volunteer work before being asked to do it formally. One thing it means is that it’s a job I clearly would do for free. But I think what is most important to me is that when others see the ability and ask me to apply for the job, I feel more validated in taking on that job, like I’ve already proven I can do it.

If you had one piece of advice for our community (leaders/listeners/members/whoever), what would it be? This place is what we all make it for better or for worse. Each person who comes here plays a role in making this space what it is. So I try to be what I want to see, and focus on building that rather than bemoaning what it isn't.
