What an amazing thing to do, to acknowledge the absolute best and the brightest that 7 cups has to offer to our members and guests! If you have made it into this winners circle, my hat is off to you! You did it! Positive reinforcement works wonders and is so good for the soul!

I just so happened to pay attention to some numbers I saw on my "my path" page yesterday. If I'm reading this correctly, 83,000+ chats, and only 1,700+ positive reviews. Gee, tough crowd. But looking at these numbers made me feel so much better as my experience as a listener. I win every day, just by being here, just by showing up. Some times you have to give yourself a pat on the back just for knowing you are doing a good thing, volunteering your time, even if you live in a time deprived household. It's the oddest thing some days. You know you did well, you know you gave it your all, and the member/guest thanked you. But no positive review. Some days you might feel like "gee, was I prying the last piece of bread out of a starving mans hand, did I ask for money, did I ask for anything at all"? And of course the answer is No. Yes, we are givers. And in this world there are takers. And many times the member/guest that comes to you, is truly a giver in their physical world. It's just their time, and they have needs. When you come to 7 cups as a member/guest it's time to be the taker. I guess this is our role. They are in emotional distress and they need to be self focused.

If it makes you feel better, look at those numbers again, and recognize how very difficult it truly is to recieve positive reviews. Just because you didn't get one, didn't mean that you didn't do your part to make the world a better place.

You didn't decide to be a listener for a shiny trophy anyway. If it helps, know that you are doing it anyway. Mother Teresa "Do It Anyway". coined by her, but author unknown. This was found written on her monestary wall, upon her death. Thanks to all of you, for doing it anyway! Hugs!
