My ex started to pull away from me because of my depression and mood swing.

I lost all of my friends after his death.

It's been really hard to make more.

@Rebekahwriter13

Seems like mental health have had serious impact on your relationships. *Hugs* (If you are okay with virtual hugs) I am sorry for your loss and making new friends is not easy at all, I agree.

It has severely impacted my relationships. I am consistently feeling withdrawn from my family, and I no longer have any friends. I want to reach out and work on my relationships, but with my low self esteem, it is quite the struggle.

@lovelyWhisper66

Hey! Feeling withdrawn from the family and not having friends can be real tough. Reaching and working out on relationships when we have self esteem issues is real hard too. It is easy for me to say than for you to do but I hope things change for better for you. *Hugs*

@River a lot!! when my mental health was doing really bad, i automatically surrounded myself with people who are the same and who put me down even more.

@Hope3729 Getting sorrounded by the people who feel the same and bring you down even more when we are low is quite understandable. The people whom we talk to can make the huge impact at such times.

It has seriously impacted my relationships with my family because I tend to withdraw and be too anxious to always meet up or talk to them; it affected all my relationships to the point I am not sure I can ever a romantic relationship again; and I find it hard to make friends and then I struggle to keep in contact with more than one friend at a time. I've actually lost every best friend I've had because eventually they couldn't cope with it when I became too unwell. The last one stuck around for 5 years to his credit, but I think I've damaged that beyond repair now. I guess people come and go from most people's lives, and are closer at some times than others, but my problems seem on another level than that. I crave to have some kind of meaningful connections with people, but I don't think I know how to do it properly.

I read your post and feel like I am at the keyboard with you. My mental health has made me a toxic person to everyone, destroyed literally every relationship and prevents me from repairing any. My heart goes out to you, as I know the lonely path you are on, wish I had a solution. Have a great day, it is the only recourse that I have found. Smile, be nice, cry, repeat... Life is happening, deep breaths, you survived yesterday, today you will do the same. I

I am not particularily religious but I read this today and hope it helps me, maybe it can help you.....@resourcefulPond1641"Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." (Isaiah 43:1-2)

A lot of the times i feel like a burden on my boyfriend and my friends because I'm so mentally strained. It's so exhausting to feel like i constantly need reassurance and I wish it wasn't this way. I also think it's much harder for me to make friends because im more withdrawn.

I've withdrawn from people a lot, partly from anxiety and partly from forgetfullness, which is caused by anxiety. Sometimes it feels like a necessary evil to socialize, and other times I get painfully lonely. I can't help my friends with their problems and listen to them like I used to cuz people being upset makes me anxious; I can't tolerate as much as I used to.

I was pretty depressed when I first heard from her. I had just been rejected (again) by a woman who seemed really nice. I was very surprised when I got a message from someone I thought would not be interested in me. I wrote back, she wrote back, we met, she went away but stayed in contact, she came back, we went out. One of the things she said was that one of the reasons her marriage had fallen apart was her husband's depression and inability to communicate. Nowadays, I am happy whenever I am with her, and sad and somewhat depressed when we are apart. I have told her that I have dealt with a lot of depression in my past.She is OK with that.I don't think she would be OK if I was depressed around her, but I don't know because I am always happy when we are together.

My boyfriend has depression and to him, I have no idea how it feels.

But to me, it makes me feel empty and emotionless.

When he tried to take his own life, it altered our relationship so much but yet neither of us want to talk about it. To be honest, we dont talk about that at all.

Depression was never a big problem in my relationships. Anxiety was...they could not understand why I didn't have control over some obsessive thoughts or worries, or why I could not reduce the intensity of certain responses to daily triggers...even though they knew, even though they had sometimes studied the theory behind it all...they simply could not deal with the reality of it and the impact it had on their life
