Will we get back together?
I am an actress fresh out of college and I’ve been luckily booking jobs back to back. I was dating an amazing guy from one of my jobs and I’ve known him for a few years. I just got a job and a callback for two jobs that are out of state that will keep me out of state for months. He broke up with me because he doesn’t think that he can emotionally handle me being away for that period of time because his ex girlfriend got a job for three months and then ended up never coming home. So he compares me to her in that respect because he scared I’m going to do the same thing or my jobs will be lined up so closely to each other that we won’t get any time together and we would miss out on all of the things that happen in relationships. He told me that maybe in the future when I’m ready to settle down and start a family which I wanted to do anyways we could get back together. I don’t know if this will happen or not or if the universe is telling me that he’s not the one and I’m not listening. We still talk to each other every day and he still wants to hang out with me but he just can’t do that kind of relationship. Should I MoveOn and hope that one day we can get back together? Or should I just say forget about it? Help???
@SugarPlumFairy246 hey, thanks for writing here :) I'm sorry you're going through a difficult situation with this guy. It seems like if you hold on to the thought of someday being able to be with him, you will keep on waiting and you won't live your life.
Will that be fair to you?
@SugarPlumFairy246
Maybe. Or maybe you meet someone on your next job who is in the same place as you and wants the same things.
We live in the present. Not in the future or the past. When you put all of that possibility on hold for a vague idea of a potential future relationship, it merely creates obstacles for real, present and satisfying relationships that you could be having right now. Open yourself to that possibility, and take the more conscious and proactive path - Rather than living life on stand-by waiting for ‘maybe some day’ to happen.

@SugarPlumFairy246 I am removing a duplicate post (same as this content), which had a comment by @toughTiger6481 —
so he is afraid that like a past relationship you will not return after long distance part.....understandable but you are not her either.....maybe this is his chance to see that
The idea of IF in the future etc we could get back together etc ... i think you are young and as life goes on you grow and change in many ways ... you will not be the same person down the road and neither will he.
growing together is what keeps people together and if he does not want to work through your jobs in other locations may be time to move on ....
