feeling unloved and not listened to
For the past month or two now my relationship has been steadily going down hill and I don't know what to do anymore
We're arguing almost daily and it's over such small things that we could easily fix if we just talked it out, and it hurts. A lot.
I understand that no one is perfect, including me and I understand I've done some hurtful things to my partner and I really want to know how to get better but it just feels like he expects me to ASAP, like I have no time to even try get better. And everytime I go back to how I was before he seems to get so upset about it.
And today is honestly close to my breaking point, we mentioned trying movie nights together more to see if that would help us get better and it went really well for a while, until he started talking about a movie he really enjoyed which isn't an issue but today I was feeling pretty sensitive from our argument we already had prior.
I said some things sI houldn't have and I understand it was hurtful so I offered to watch it while he went out, except I also kept saying I didn't feel too good and asked if he could compliment me, to which he completely ignored and kept talking about the movie and how amazing it is which really upset me
So I asked again, and all he said was "okay fine you're amazing, will you watch it now"
IT HURT. SO BAD and frankly I'm pretty upset about it and he kept talking to me like I was being dramatic about being upset about it which made me feel even more stressed out because I explained I wasn't feeling loved and just wanted support.
What do I do, he's out right now and I feel so scared for him to come back
@neonOrange5591 I just realised how long this is, sorry if it's too long
@ShadowMilkCookie
I believe your message is OK. It has some nice paragraphing, it's clear, to the point and with no unimportant details. So, don't worry 😊Â
I understand what you really needed was to be noticed? I think it's good to watch a good movie, especially in a nice company. But it must be not good to feel invisible...
Watching a movie together when your relationship is in crisis is a good idea. It can make the atmosphere calmer, and while you both do not talk, you have fewer chances to hurt each other. However, some nice time together may not replace some words unspoken. And when the atmosphere is thick, even a song on the radio or discussing a movie may turn it into an argument.
It sounds not good you were feeling afraid of your partner's return. Shouldn't it be more like "I am glad he's back"?
Sorry, it's not to tell you how you "should" feel, but rather to notice that something in your relationship seems to be off the track.
