Does anyone else experience this?
did anyone in their relationship have a challenge navigating things like 5-6 months in..is this normal?

Yes, I cannot resist the impression it's quite common. Half a year is the time when you already know someone better - or worse (with things like his dirty socks lying around or her "don't touch me/don't talk to me about in.the morning" routines).
The initial very strong physical attraction tends to be more balanced then, and if anyone is coping with their "I'd prefer to be a single" patterns, they start to work overtime.
I think such a tendency is so strong it could be regarded the official point to make any "go" or "no go" decisions about the relationship going further.
On the other hand, surviving this period might make a relationship re-emerge as stronger.
