is this normal?
sometimes i will go like 2 weeks where i’m so completely in love where i feel like i’d actually die if anything got in the way of me spending my future with my partner. but then following that i’ll have a whole week where i just wish i could be my own person again. where i feel like they’re getting in the way of my future. and i’ll feel so angry and like i just wish they would break up with me. i always get over it and the cycle restarts. but i don’t understand why i’m like this. is this something normal? is it normal to go through such extreme phases in love? we’ve been together for a year also so i feel like i should have this down by now. idk.
@hp902 yeah it can be too much at times..I remember feeling it when I was with my ex..couple of times then I loved to be with him..it was like two different person within me one who don't like any company rather pushing away and another part of me fearing to lose him
Hi @hp902, I hope you feel better. It sounds like your emotions are swinging from one extreme of feeling in love to the other side of wanting to be alone. Because of this, you seem to feel confused and maybe even questioning it.
I want to share with you that I also feel this way so you are not alone, and I’m saying this being in my relationship for 5 years. There are days I feel safe in the relationship and then there are days where I don't and just want to be by myself. During my therapy journey, I’ve come to learn that I have an insecure attachment style from what happened to me when I was a child. Because of this I have very chaotic feelings and thoughts about my partner. Some I’m shamed to say out loud. At times it feels uncontrollable. I work through it with my therapist and on my own in knowing when to identify when my emotions are misfiring. I hope you are able to work through it, it might be helpful to talk to a therapist (if you aren’t already) who will know better on what’s causing you to feel this way and then working through it. If it’s anything similar to what I have, there are therapists who specializes in attachment theory. Please know you are not alone so please be kind to yourself today.
