Major Boy Drama- are my feelings just a game to him??

Hi guys so I really need some advice Im 15 y/o and Ive never experienced anything like this befor s so I dont really know how to handle this.

Theres this boy Ive had a crush on for a while and we became quite close friends to the point where he would often tell me things like he would masturbate and watch porn all that types of things. I didnt really pay much attention to those things because hes the same age so I thought he was just messing around as boys do at this age. Anyway so a few days ago I decided to confess my crush to his as Id had it for a while and wed been talking for ages so it was a good time. But hes started the convo by saying that he liked me but he wasnt 100% sure how he felt as he still believed he may have feelings for another girl?! I told him I liked him too but I dont wanna force my feelings on to him and if he doesnt like me that way I can live with that. We then agreeddd to stop ‘flirting lmao with each other as our messages werent exactly things youd say to friends. The next day (yesterday) he was complimenting me and I said no this isnt fair to me or to the girl you may like and he was like ‘Yh thats cool I understand and he was sorry but then he goes and tells me that hes meeting up with a group of friends and shes going to be there too! He said Ed me how I felt about it and then told me that hes doing it to see how he feels about her before we ‘start anything . Is it just me or do I seem like a backup/ second option to him?
