I was blocked by a listener

I don't understand...I was tired and lonely and wanted to talk but well I didn't know how to start...

So this listener I was talking to aksed me how I was feeling and I said tired and they said same..I said yeah I haven't even gone to classes or anywhere for a week or so and they blocked me...was I being inappropriate?

And well them I connected to other listener who I contacted first and I started casually talking and said the same to them after a while of chatting when they asked how I was feeling...And they said they felt tired too. So I asked them why are they feeling tired? (And I asked because I like comforting people too) and they blocked me too...

I genuinely don't know if I was being inappropriate and if I was I'd like to know what to change..?

It seems listeners are STILL using the block button as an escape hatch when they don't want to keep the conversation going...

I wouldn't take it personally, it doesnt sound like you did anything wrong.

@convivialPomegranate439 i dont think that you did anything wrong but it would be a good idea to look for listeners in browse listeners listeners who have a lot of chat experience has been here a while and has good reviews its just all on a listeners profile

I have a few awesome listeners, but give had to get through probably three dozen to get there.

I get more out of my depression and anxiety forums on here than from most listeners.

I would try some forums and see if they help

@convivialPomegranate439 I'm glad you posted your concern. What a horrible experience, especially since this is a support forum. I just joined and I think I will stay away from the listener options. I'm sorry to hear you are tired and going through issues that kept you away from your classes. I hope you can figure out a way to overcome your recent stress and your grades are not affected. Take care my friend

@ReadBooksDrinkTea thank you, I don't really mind but I just don't want to be the one who makes someone uncomfortable you know

I hope listeners will just say that they are not in a proper state or situation to take a chat instead of just blocking.

Or for you guys, what do you think would be the most proper way to say that if you are a listener and someone chat you but you don't want to have a conversation instead of blocking?

@MessyBun

For me personally, it depends on the reason why. Have I listed myself as offline but they've messaged me anyway? Am I just about to log off? Are they rude/angry and not calming down? Are they engaging in sex chats even though I've asked them not too?

@romanticthi3f Definitely that are the reasons that listeners have rights to stop the conversation as what you said, the worst of it is when they want to engage in sex chats. I know also that listeners are human too and busy with their own lives and sometimes they really can't take chats but if they can't talk to them, I think they should say it the proper way and tell them to just find another listener especially when that person really has a problem.

@MessyBun

Absolutely! The way I'll respond to each member depends on what's actually going on - I'm not going to respond to a sex chat the same way that I would if I was just about to log off for example.

If it's a sex chat, I generally make it clear I'm not into those and see if I can redirect the conversation. Generally people can accept that and if they don't I try and end the chat. I've actually found a few times that people come in looking for a sex chat and then when letting them know my boundaries it ends up talking about something much more personal! So often it's just a cover for wanting company or to feel less lonely.
