Important for listeners, members and guests
Hello,
So I have important things to discuss and I'd like fellow listeners' opinion and I would like members and guests to understand. This is getting to be more frustrating.
Why did we become listeners?
The reason is different for most of us. Some do it because they feel better helping others. Some do it because they feel better knowing they are not alone and some do it because they want to make a difference.
Whatever the reason is, I commands all of listeners π for their hard work.
So us listeners are here for members and guests to help in anyway we can. I don't think most members realize that. I will explain few points down.
First, not all listeners are trained to solve all problems. Some listeners have disclosed in their profile their special areas and some don't. So that means we do our best in some areas where we have experience but in other areas we just don't have experience and are not able to help.
Second, when listeners have a red color on their profile , that means two things. Either they are offline or they have more than one chat going. So please understand that when such sign provided on a listener's profile you wish to chat with, leave a brief message with your problem and they will get back to you. Don't leave a message saying, "hello" and expect immediate response. If it is urgent, leave a brief message and the listener will message as fas as they can.
Third, when a listener says, " I can't do much for you but I can connect you with another fellow listener" or " hold on, I will ask a mod for opinion about your situation " , please don't think that this listener is trying to get rid of you. It is absolutely the opposite. Your listener is working hard to help you.
Fourth, as a member or a guest, you are encouraged to talk about anything that troubles you. Just please keep in mind that listeners intention is to help you. So please don't talk inappropriately to them. Doing so might causes them to block you.
Fifth, Sadly we are not allowed to connect with members outside 7 cups or share information with them. This is a protection for both listeners and members. Here is the link provided for such discussion. https://www.7cups.com/forum/SafetyKnowledgeat7Cups_181/CommunityGuidelines_1374/NewCommunityGuidelineAddedRelationshipsDatingRomanticConnections_85529/?notifyID=184726318
In some situations, female members are comfortable with talking to female listeners. So I think it is alright if you as for the gender to feel comfortable.
Six, members, when you talk to a listener and you feel comfortable, you are welcome to try talking to that listener again. Just keep in mind βΊ, they won't be able to remember every single detail about you. You need to improvise, be chatty and remind your listener about somethings.
I think that is about it, but I will continue to publish any new idea that pops up π.
Listeners, please participate, tell me your opinion on what's written above and share what makes you more comfortable.
Members and guests, I encourage you to read this since it will make your chats with listeners more positive. π
I'd like to thank @RumbleSteeleSkin for helping me find the right place to post this.βΊ

This is very important. Thank you for sharing this.
Absolutely i totally agree! As listeners we love to care for others and if a member is in the general request system and haven't put the topic matter in you may not be connected with the best listener. Please don't take offense when we pass you onto another listener it's simply we have very limited knowledge in the topic you'd like to talk to us about and we want to find someone who will be as relevant and understanding as possible.
Thanks so much for sharing this it is so important!
:)

Bump β€
Thankyou, @RumpleSteeleSkin β€
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou Now that this has been bumped, does it perhaps deserve to be updated? For example, guests can no longer chat, "listeners have a red color on their profile" when offline only in the app and no longer in the website, and the implication that listeners are trained to solve some problems needs careful thought.

Great post, absolutely agree with everything you've said. Wonder if there's a way to make sure every member reads this when they join, I'm thinking?! π€
