7 Cups Survey: Why did you choose to become a listener?

@Heather225 I became a listener to help and listen to others who might be going through a lot. I fist joined to find a counselor for myself but ended up finding myself making an account to be a listener. I wanted to be the person I needed when I was struggling and had no one else. To me, nothing is more rewarding than knowing I was able to help someone through something they were or are going through. That's why I became a listener ❤️

Many people do not have someone in their life they trust. They feel alone and like they have to face their problems on their own. As an person who been through a lot and survived and make it through and devoloped myself , i bring light and hope into this person’s world. i create a safe place where they can begin to talk about the challenges they face. you are not alone ...

I chose to become a listener because I had a crappy childhood.i have been through a lot of things.but listening here at seven gives me hope.it gives me motivation.it gives me strength.and you get to help people.you get to make feel people safe.just that feeling makes makes me so happy. Thank you for reading.😁😃😃😃

I just hope to give them a smile, a laugh, a hope on their tough situation.

In helping others I am able to help myself more than I could without doing so God is why I became a listener on this app

@Heather225 many kind souls here on 7cups have helped me when I lost hope . I really wanted to do the same for other people . If by listening to someone I could make their day better even slightly , I would be satisfied that I am giving back the kindness that 7 cups offered me .

The experience I had as a member here was frustrating and painful. I signed up hoping to feel supported and connect with someone over grief, and the results were nothing short of a painful disaster.

I want to be the kind of listener I needed and deserved.

I have been dealing with child and adult abused for 11 years. In my private life, many people come to me, I chat a lot. I have a website that can also be read in English, so a girl from England found me and she talked to me about the 7 cups. That’s why I joined the 7 cups. I like to help people. I know how it feels when someone needs a kind word. I know what it’s like to have no one to talk to about the problem. I’m not saying I’m a good listener, but I try to become one. During my time here, if I could only help one person, it already made sense to be here. I love to learn, to develop, I am surrounded by very nice people. I am confident that I can be a useful member of the 7 cups team.

My answers:

• I became a listener first, then made my member account later.
• My reasons: personal experience, family experience, to learn and practice active listening skills, desire to help others/give to the world, curiosity.
• A member should be able to get support without needing to know anything at all—7 Cups should be designed to be transparently clear.
