New listener training: New Mom Support
We have just launched a new listener training to help support new moms. This training is available to any listener interested in learning more. We also have a perinatal mood disorder training (pregnancy and early post partum) as well as parenting support. We have some more new mom related content coming soon, so completing the new mom training now will give you a head start on these upcoming programs!
Not a mom? No prob! Doing trainings help you learn more about topics you may or may not have experience with, and also helps you achieve listener certificate milestones. You can see all the available trainings on the training page (listener only page).
After you complete the new mom listener training, or if you are new mom in need of support, head over to our new mom support area and say hello!
@Jill7Cups What a superb idea! I think moms are heroes and they also deserve to be supported c: I really hope that by launching a new training and new mom support space, it'll be beneficial to both adult listeners who want to offer support and to members who are moms and in need of support. Thank you, jill!

I have taken the course, it was so interesting!
I look forward to other new training courses :)
@Jill7Cups
Yay Jill that training was so informative and detailed. Thank you for showing so much commitment to this community
AWESOME!!! I believe this is so important as a Mom myself of 35 years it was so hard as a young mom due to sleepless nights and feedings, changing diapers , sooooooo much but soooooo worth it !!!
Thanks Jill
@Jill7Cups Fantastic news! Thanks for the post, and keep up the awesome job. :)
@Jill7Cups
Interesting :)
@Jill7Cups yayyy for more training and on such a great topic choice too
@Jill7Cups This is great news! Parenthood isn't something I plan to experience for myself, so having a training dedicated to it will help me be more prepared should I encounter a member who needs to chat about it!
@Jill7Cups
This "training" made being a new mother sound like it's a terrible illness with no hope of a cure, all new mothers are single, and the baby never grows up! Astoundingly bad. The worst guide we have at 7 Cups.
Like so many of our training and self-help guides, it reads like it was written by someone with OCD who is obsessed by lists and rituals.
It was good to see basic information about active listening repeated, but the following section on Advice vs. Encouragement immediately contradicts it.
I'd recommend listeners who are serious about listening to forget the information in this guide and focus on the person you're chatting to. Understand their situation. Understand how they feel about it. See it with their eyes. Don't assume that a real person can be defined by all these lists.

I love the new topic! It is a topic that was really needed to be covered!
Sadly as Charlie says there are some parts that heavily contradict our basic training as a listener, and could also make a listener sound like a bot if they were followed? Maybe a few of the parts could be tweaked, then it would be an awesome guide! If I can help with that then please let me know.
Listening .... One Step At A Time
@RarelyCharlie @mistymagic the training gives options on what to do instead of giving advice. When someone asks for advice do this instead (and then reinforces active listening skills).
I'm sorry you don't like the writing style of the professional writer who created this training Charlie. Unlike you I am happy with it as it meets the goals we have of educating listeners on the common reasons new moms may want support from our platform. A little empathy can go a long way.
@Jill7Cups
Thank you for taking the time to make this post and for sharing an informative guide. I learned a lot of new concepts and I hope it helps New Moms as well! The guide is absolutely brilliant.
Im interested in this new listener training. What do I need to do?@Tazzie
