SIte Update: Reduced Listener Certificate Rating Requirements (9 & 10)!

Hi, everyone! We received feedback regarding the Certification Program expressing concern about taking more chats as you approach the highest AL certification levels because of the risk of higher volume potentially reducing your star rating and resulting in not qualifying for the level 10 listener certificate. To accommodate the community, we decided to reduce the required Star Rating from 5 to 4.5 for listener certificate levels 9 and 10 (Active Listening Level 9 and 10).

We hope this adjustment makes things easier for those of you working through the program.

@Heather225

Thanks for the update. But I guess more than getting 5 start rating (I think with more number of chats 1 or 2 bad ratings wont affect our average), getting 200 reviews is more challenging specially if we dont ask for reviews after every chat.

Hi H! 😊❤️ Thank you for this forum post as well as the update! I find your response to the feedback, changes made, to be quite brilliant! I enjoy your leadership style in how you are able to sit back from your vantage point, take in the information and see how one thing truly can effect another. Glen has referred to us as an "eco-system" and I too like to see symbiotic relations around here. That change that you have just made, I see as a prime example! 👍

That was a thought that had never occurred to me but I'm glad it occurred to someone else because it makes complete sense! If we want to set goals, we need to make them achievable. It's part of the literature here on 7 cups! It's great to set others up for success, make the goals achievable, lest someone have their spirit being broken and giving up too soon if it's simply out of the realm of possibility.

Something that comes up and quite often in the LSR is how "chat hours" are computed on the certifications page. It kind of looks and feels vastly different for many than what shows up on their profile page as well as what they feel was time spent. While it may be a complicated algorithm and we might not understand the difference, I would like to give a huge "shout out" to @Hope!

Hope, thank you for stepping into the LSR and explaining to us what "best practices" would be in regard to that issue! For me, that was some serious hero time! What it was that you said to do is something that I already do just based on my listening style. It's not about me though. It's about you equipping all of us with the skills to achieve. You answered the query, you helped many in that room and you also "trained the trainer" in that moment but allowing me to see your response, you equipped me with the tools to answer the query better in the future by adding more information to what I call my "listener tool box"!

My understanding of what Hope said, again, things I already do and using my own verbiage here, is to be a fast responder. To respond quickly to the needs of our members. If you are in a chat, stay in the chat, keep up the pace. Be front and center.

Also, what I gleaned from Hope was to avoid huge walls of text. This too, is something that I try to avoid as I feel it can be a bit overwhelming for the member. When typing here on 7 cups I type in the "raindrop method" which is small, bite sized pieces of information that can be understood and processed much more easily than using the "waterfall method". The waterfall method would be the huge walls of text that Hope mentioned should be avoided.

I find Hopes information to be quite brilliant in helping us not only to achieve the chat hours better on our certifications page but in my opinion, a better way to serve our members. 😊

For me, personally, I haven't really overly focused on my certifications page. But I have empathy for those that do! I have simply seen it a nice thing for 7 cups to do for us, to acknowledge us, give us a little pat on the back, something to feel good about ourselves for and also things to work towards.

Others experiences may be different as they are working within different programs and printing out and providing those certifications might be really necessary in proving their "so called worth" to potential employers, colleges and universities, etc.

While it doesn't apply to me because I just simply go with the flow around here, I see me being here as service driven leadership, I too have noticed two things on the certifications that feel quite daunting.

I'm not a big fan of the "Reconnection Hero 2" badge or the "Reconnection Hero 3" badge. For me it feels like a "fit force moment". It could end up being a moment that becomes calculated and contrived simply in a an effort to receive the badges to achieve level 9 and 10 as opposed to letting our experiences here as listeners happen organically. The badges don't seem achievable by some standards and I would have to wonder if a listener is highly invested in receiving those two badges, if, potentially they could become overly focused on some members and maybe not for the right reasons.

Just my thoughts, only trying to be helpful.

*high fives* 😊 and *hugs* ❤️
