Importance on Listener Reviews

Why it's important:

Here at 7Cups we appreciate your feedback from your experiences with listeners. As a community, we want to be able to help as many people as we can. To ensure we can help to the best of our abilities, we allow members and guests to be able to provide feedback. This allows the listener to be able to learn and improve. It also allows us to weed out listeners that aren't here for the right reasons. In doing so, the community starts to become a better place for everyone involved. :)

Positive reviews for a job well done can boost a listener's mood as well. It can help remind them why they started their journey here in the first place. In trying times, they can also look back on what you have said, and it can give them some motivation to keep going. Remember what you say in reviews can mean a lot!

How it works:

A member or guest can leave a review of a listener after enough messages are sent between them during a 1-on-1 chat. If you are not prompted to leave a review, you can send one by clicking on the star icon () right of the listeners name during the chat. You can always wait to do this till the end. It's found with the other chat options. Here is what the tool bar looks like: https://imgur.com/YWa1qy8 (The review button is highlighted).

A normal review- A Member/Guest rates the listener by stars (★★★★★) in the following areas:

The areas below have some questions to think about if you're unsure what to rate a listener.

-Helpfulness: Did the listener try their best to help you? Did they effectively use their active listening skills? Do you feel this chat was worth the time? Do you feel somewhat better after chatting?

-Professionalism: Did the listener engage in a mature manner? Did the listener speak without judgement? Did they make sure not to cross any established boundaries or rules?

-Empathy: Did the listener try their best to understand your situation? Were they empathetic? Do you feel they truly cared about what you said?

-Response Time: Did the listener respond in a timely manner? Did they try to respond quicker if you asked (within reasonability)? If the listener had to leave, did they let you know before leaving?

A written review- A Member/Guest can also leave feedback:

Written reviews are very important to us here at 7Cups. We want you to share your thoughts about the listener's support. You can write a short statement or write an entire paragraph! Whichever you feel does the best review of the listener. Remember your username will not be associated with the review in any capacity. You don't have to leave a written part to your review of a listener if you don't want to, but it is appreciated to anyone who does. :)

★★★★★ Thanks for reading and leaving reviews! ★★★★★

If there's a thread about this I'd appreciate a pointer to it. I'm really disappointed and unhappy that the review areas mentioned; Helpfulness, Professionalism, Empathy and Response Time, have been removed from Listener profiles. Members are still asked to review members on those criteria, but listener profiles show only a composite score. it was much more useful before when those categories were shown on Listener profiles. I can't understand this change at all. Why ask members to rate listeners on these areas and then not display them on listener profiles. Please bring them back.

@DrumDude They're wanting to change the member review system to just one category, an overall star ranking. I think the reason why it's only on listener profiles but not the member review system right now is just that they're halfway through the process. The whole update is detailed here and here

I have only had bad listeners, so I'm glad for this review section. I hope those that made us feel worse about what we're going through won't be able to hurt others..
