Small advice for all listeners

Hi.

I thank you listeners for devoting your time but I have noticed this even among those with good ratings: some of you seem distracted.

If you connect with someone, please mark yourself as busy and stay focused on that person.
Like I said, even listeners with good ratings seem...distracted.
I won't ask for 100% (others might hope so) but if you connect with a member, please give at least 60-70%. Thank you

Huh...can't edit my posts.

Ok I take that back. 80 might still be too much. 60-70% then.

@RalSorin

Edited for you :)

You're totally right, sometimes we as listeners can get distracted or lazy. That's not a good think and having this reminder is definitely needed.

Thanks RalSorin :)

I think this is so important! I always aim to give 100% when I'm in a chat with anyone, but I feel like the issue comes in when the individual wants more from me than I'm capable of giving (ie advice, personal stories, etc). That's when the conversation kind of stops.

Me too, I have really tried to get better with that.

Thanks for positing this, I agree and I have been trying to get better at that myself.

I think some listeners take on too many chats at once and it's difficult to give thoughtful and timely responses. I usually stick with two, maybe three if I have talked with everyone before and already have some background info.

@DeniseB I agree, usually I take only two

@DeniseB I have noticed majority of the time in the current listener's list there are those who have from 4-9 chats at a time and they are most often the newbies. Maybe we can encourage the newbies to take it slow and not get over enthusiastic with numbers. More quality than quantity?

I agree.I like to give the member my full attention,so I only take one chat at a time.This way I feel I can give them 100% and Listen to them fully.

@Sassy001

Sometimes you greet them and wait and they log out and you take somebody else they come back. There are obvious trolls and inaapropriate members too and they keep going round and round the list wasting peoples time.

Agreed! It can always be hard to give 100% especially when we sometimes feel like we want to help as many people as we possibly can in one go. Sometimes this isn't possible, and it always maximises our capacity to help by focussing on one person at a time

Agreed! I mean I try to give my full 100% always. I know how frustrating it can be for someone to wait for the Listener to reply. Many members have told me their Listeners don't concentrate enough and don't act professional.. I still try to do my part and wish every Listner to show more compassion and dedication. That's why we're all here in the first place, aren't we?
