Listener
I’m new on here so don’t know the protocol. But it seems the listeners I’ve gotten either didn’t follow the guidelines (not in an overt harsh manner or anything) but simply that they seemed not to be able to truly engage and listen. I had one ask a question about what type of abuse I experienced which seemed tone deaf, as it might not be the best strategy to ask abuse survivor certain questions. As that can feel threatening or like they have to defend themselves and make the abuse seem valid to the listener if that makes sense. So I didn’t really find the help needed here yet with that.
Thank you that is very helpful and will try that. Some other things too, but didn’t wish to be overly negative or review them poorly. But tended to see some listeners open up nonchalant or using slang or abbreviations to ask questions
@gregariousGrapefruit7800 I am a listener but I get what you mean, even when I'm having a conversation, I hate slang or abbreviations because it feels like you are being dismissed or not listened to like they are not bothered.
Agreed. While we can coax those who need a listening ear to speak out, it's up to them to say what they want to speak about. And while we can try to lead the conversation into topics where we feel the speaker is troubled, we cannot ask them outright. I'm sorry you faced this @gregariousGrapefruit7800. I hope you find a good Listener and feel better soon.
