needed someone to listen to me
i was recently terminated at my job and have been feeling frustrated and alone in all of this turmoil I was searching for how to deal with termination and this website link popped up and i am so very glad that it had. Interestingly, it had information about DBT Dialectical Behavioral Therapy which i recently heard about and am hoping that it will help me deal with emotional issues. i have been feeling as though i have some sort of ptsd from things that have happened to me causing me to react extremely emotionally to situations. i have felt like i was "going crazy." Hopefully with this website and some literature and workbooks I will move forward to living a less "emotionally charged" life. Thanks to Sid who helped me this evening. You're a lifesaver, man. :)
I am glad that you are here annika.
Thanks. I am, too, glad that I have found this place. I have been feeling so alone in all of this. I am not dealing well with the loss of my job at all. I worked very hard for them and am having such a hard time dealing with how they just threw me out like I was not worth the time of a discussion. I think that is what hurts the most. I was not even worth a conversation or talk about what I might be feeling or going through. They were not interested in anything that I felt. I worked very hard to get my work done and to be a help to others. I made a mistake, it is true, but not a large enough one where they should just not hear me out. I'm baffled and hurt. I am now dealing with the reality that they are trying not to pay me for vacation time due me. I am frustrated and there really is nowhere to turn. I had the time in the "bank" and the company policy is that upon separation, any unused vacation is paid. They did not pay me the money they owe me. This means I have to file an "unpaid wages" form with the state. I just want this to be over. I also have done massage for the Club (under a separate agreement) where they discouraged me from taking my equipment with me when I left. The front offices were telling potential clients that I "was not doing it anymore" and so I contacted my boss and he was very hostile--telling me to make arrangements to get my stuff (they shut off my gate card). I have to wait until my husband can go with me to get it which won't be until next week Friday. I feel powerless. I try not to obsess about it, but I keep getting "kicks in the teeth" (bad news)which makes me take a few steps backwards from the progress i have made thus far. I just want to be done with them so I can heal myself and move forward.
Hi Annika, Itmakes sense that you would feel hurt about losing your job. I can understand why you might feel disappointed after the work that you have put in. From an outside perspective, I can also imagine that you might feel mistreated and devalued? If this is so, I would like to be one person and I know there are many more here who will affirm your value as a person and as someone who has great things to contribute.
These words of affirmation won't take away the hurt but I hope they give you comfort, support and hope.
I hope you have already received listening experiences here at 7 Cups and perhaps scanned the Guided to possible give you perspective?
Take care of yourself. 😃
