Some people have both Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Bipolar Disorder. ADHD is typically diagnosed at a younger age than Bipolar. Those with either condition are more likely than those with no mental health issues to develop other mental health issues. Mood swings, anxiety, impassivity, and behavioral outbursts are common in both ADHD and Bipolar. Both conditions also put those that have them at higher risk for substance use/abuse, relationship problems, financial issues, relationship problems, self-injurious behaviors, and suicide. The overlap of symptoms between attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and bipolar disorder occurs mostly in the manic or hypomanic phases of bipolar disorder.
