A change of environment can be a good way to distract yourself from wanting to drink alcohol. For example, when you feel the urge to drink alcohol, you could take a walk in a local park, go to the gym or call a friend to do an activity that doesn't involve drinking alcohol.
One can analyze the pros and cons of sobriety and intoxication as it pertains to life and reflect. Is this what you really want? Does this really help you feel better? Does the problem go away when you're sober?

that's what's called an addiction, it's something that you'll have to get over with the help of someone who can guide you.
They can go and see an addiction counsellor that addiction counsellor could refer them to a Detox or to treatment Facility or just to a 12 step program depending on the clients needs.
Alcohol is not something that makes you feel better if anything it worsens your moods. The things that will make you feel better is getting our amungst the environment I go on bush walks or beach walks I take my camera and snap shots of beautiful things this makes me fell better. I've tried the end of a bottle it didn't work I almost done the unthinkable but now when I am down I go for a walk or call people I love and have a great chat , I draw, I meditate or do yoga it all will help you may not get it the first time and you will make mistakes it's important to just keep going
It's a continual process to quit alcohol. Just make small promises to yourself like i will twice once a week. continue that for like 15 days. Then make that once a week, continue for another 15-20 days.Then maybe once in 15 days & so on. now this totally depends on your will to quit. i wish you good luck!!
Replace the negative behaviour of drinking alcohol with a more positive, productive, and distracting behaviour, like playing music, playing sport, playing video games, meeting with friends/family. You could even involve a friend/family member into your behaviour and have them encourage you to avoid alcohol and keep you accountable for your actions if you do go back. By doing this you could create a new habit that would benefit you in the long-term, unlike drinking alcohol. Also, if relapsing does occur, remember it is part of the recovery process and you can learn a lot from it in terms of what trigger situations to avoid in the future.
