Addiction can come from poor parenting skills that can leave us thinking things are normal or if you have issues that your not addressing you might be dependent on drinking to mask the real problems ! Drinking can help numb the pain inside ... It doesn't fix the situation I think if you can not stop reaching out for support would be helpful !

This specific topic I do have experience in.I am a alcoholic and i know how tough the battle is.There are several reasons as to why. Some people like myself are genetically predisposed to it,so taking one drink can trigger the need to do it.Also there may be something in your present or past your trying to escape. That was one reason for me.Something such as drinking you begin doing started as a way to relax or relate becomes a crutch over prolonged use.You may feel you need to drink simply to function. There are really too many reasons to write about so I'll conclude this here.It may seem a impossible feat to quit but trust me you can because I have done it.

Often after we have been through an emotional time we can turn to drink as a way to soothe our emotions and use almost like a 'comfort blanket'. Perhaps there has been a time in you life when you have found alcohol to be a pleasant experience, and so you are turning to it in your time of need because you know that in the past it has helped to make you feel better and numbs the pain. The first step to overcoming a drinking problem is to admit you have a problem. Only once you can admit to having a problem, can you start to work to overcome it.

It seems as if there is an alcohol dependency developed you should seek medical advice and try and root out the core problem.

You have an addition. Believe it or not alcohol is a drug, so I would recommend getting involved in a program to help.

That is domestic abuse/violence. They shouldn't be hitting you at all, this is when someone of higher power should be brought out for assistance.

Because alcohol is addictive. Your brain kind of wants it. If you avoid it for a while you are going to feel bad (weaning), but you will feel better slowly. Its like the famous quote ""...it hurted, it hurted and suddenly... I felt nothing!""

I struggle too. 7 am and im drinking. But you know, i finally figured out why i drink. I started at 14 but got heavy with it around 18. But i remember after my first love was when it got heavy. I got involved with other things as well. Enough said. But that really messed me up. Then i got over that but the habit stuck with me to this very day. Sometimes in our lives things happen to us and we just try to forget it or sweep it under the rug like it never happened. Sometimes as men we need to talk about things and its hard to do. Because were men. Tough guys but we have feelings too. But im not soft im just saying. Talk to someone about whats bothering you. In your heart you know.

Sometimes certain people have a more difficult time letting go of a negative habit in their life. Sometimes this is due to lack of motivation, you need to see all the positive reasons as to why you should stop drinking. Then slowly stop doing that negative habit.

People tend to sometimes drink based upon their emotions and the way there feeling at that particular time. It's a temporary way to numb your problems, troubles and cares in the world. But it isn't the solution.

That is difficult to answer because it is very personal. From my experience, if you are a male, there is this thing called a D2 Allele Gene inside humans. I call it the Alcoholic Gene, if this is passed down from father to son, once the son drinks a little, he is easily hooked. No this does not mean it always happens, it is closely related though. Also, I would step away from the word addiction and stick with bonding. Humans bond, simple as that. When we are in "certain" environments, we bond to what is close to us or available. At a party, whats there: drinking, drugs, sex, laughter, fun, etc. At home, what is there: drinking, laughter, fun, etc. Whatever is available in the environment, we just know how to bond to well with it. How do we break it? NEW ENVIRONMENT. Cheers.

Alcoholism is a disease, it is not something we get over quickly or quietly. You can stop but it takes admittance, community, meetings, and patience as you live one day at a time or maybe one moment. Drinking has always been there for you as the song says and it will always be there waiting to take you back as its' hostage. It poisons your body and deludes your mind. I am here for you friend should you need a reminder of your support to a sober life. Cheers with a cup of hot cocoa. You are welcome at my fire-pit to share your story, or distract you from temptations. One moment at a time.

Some people use alcohol in order to change the way they feel and act, particularly in social situations. In my own experience, I found that drinking made me feel less anxious in public, and also that it seemed to make everything "more fun". Unfortunately, as anyone who has had problems with drinking can tell you, it becomes a slippery slope, wherein you eventually begin to rely on alcohol to make you this "party" person. More often than not, it becomes a vehicle you rely on, and the process of drinking alcohol becomes about "getting drunk" rather than enjoying the drink in moderation. It's important to look at the reasons you feel inadequate without intoxication if this is the case. For some people (including myself), the solution is to stop drinking altogether.

You can not stop drinking because, you could possible be addicted to it, you might have used it for coping with stress or other things related to it. It is very easy to get addicted to things like this.

Dealing with addictions is a very delicate matter. Sometimes there are problems we can't solve by ourselves and It is not a shame to ask for help... I'm pretty sure you can stop drinking if you seek counseling or maybe a professional help and hold on to the people you love...
