Addition feels good because it's meeting an unmet need. Addition isn't caused by peer pressure, it's caused by an unmet need. However naturally addictive drugs that mess with our brains is just downright dangerous and changes the game completely.

Sometimes it is caused by peer pressure, but not always. It tends to give you a rush of relief you otherwise wouldn't feel, not to mention it's an addiction. It's something your body became accustomed to so that you could cope with whatever you were dealing with at the time.

Because of lots of things. Scientists will tell you that there are some chemicals which trigger our brain to be addicted to something (or even someone). Others will tell you that it's because humans have a tendency to want what they aren't allowed to. But I will tell you that addiction feels good because that's what it is. It's good and or it makes you feel good. Humans are skillful and adaptable - once they realize that a certain thing is not to their liking, they shy away from it. Yes, it can be caused by peer pressure, but that is not the only cause. Several factors such as the need to reduce pain can be a factor too.

Addiction is caused by a change in brain chemistry but beating that addiction is far easier without peer pressure and temptation

Addiction doesn't feel good. Satisfying a need feels good. And if the need is great, the satisfaction is too. Getting to the toilet when you have a full bladder feels good. Eating a hot taco when you're hungry feels good. Getting a hug when you're lonely feels good. But needing alcohol to function does not feel good. The only thing in addiction that truly feels good is the satisfaction of a strong need.

It can be caused by peer pressure and not always, and the reason addiction feels good is because there are two types: physical addiction, which is when your body responds well to certain chemicals (drugs or alcohol) and becomes dependent on them, and psychological addiction, which is when your body associates the substance with release and calmness (eg self-harming).

Addiction feels so good because it is a quick fix for something that is unpleasant to deal with. It takes your mind off the problem and satisfies you by activating the dopamine receptors in the brain. This sets up a dangerous pattern of wanting and needing to use external substances to get immediate relief from internal issues. It is a mala daptive coping strategy because the problem it tries to treat is not solved, but returns as soon as the substance wears off. Addiction can be caused by peer pressure in that peers who engage in addictive behaviors are likely to recommend them to others, but ultimately, addiction is really caused by the desire to avoid feeling unpleasant feelings. To the degree that we can patiently and skillfully work through our pain, we will avoid the compulsion of addiction.

Addiction feels good because you feel like you need whatever you are addicted too and when you finally get something you feel like you need, e.g. a cigarette, then you feel on top of the world because you simply need to feed your addiction because you crave whatever you’re addicted too. Peer pressure can have an impact on gaining an addiction, but in the end you chose to do it. Nobody can force you to be addicted to something. An addiction is caused by your actions not others actions. Yes you can be influenced to do something but addiction is never achieved by force.

Addiction give the illusion of "feeling good" for a while. Many times individuals use substances to mask their feelings, or suppress them as they do not want to feel what they are feeling. When the feelings begin to come back the individuals can sometimes start to feel what we call the cycle of addiction/shame. This is basically the individual uses substances to supress the feelings, then the "high" wears off, the same and guilt of using kicks back in, then the using starts again. Addiction is not a peer pressure thing, as addiction is not a choice, it is a disease. Its actualy the only disease that your brain is actively trying to kill you. One could be peer pressured into trying a substance, but addiction is a whole other thing from peer pressure.
