The best way to do something like this would be to meet face-to-face and be honest with them. Let them know why you feel this way and try to do it in the nicest way possible.

Breakups are very hard and breaking up with someone is even worse. If you don't want to be with that person, let them down easy. It's up to you to tell them why you want to break-up but keeping it classy and calm can help relieve tension. Try telling them that you will always be here for them and say that you care about them- if you want to of course. Don't be harsh or mean, be kind and sweet.

Breaking up with a boyfriend/girlfriend can be a very hard thing to do, and many struggle with how to do it. The best way to start is to pick somewhere to do it, most people say that doing it in person is the best way to do it. Make sure you explain your feelings to them. Be honest with them. Be clear and certain about your decision to end it. When it is their turn to talk, make sure you let them. Do not try to defend yourself or let anger get the best of you. Most importantly, try to be as kind as possible so the relationship ends cleanly and smooth .
