Take your time, think it out, write it out and see if your boyfriend want to have such a talk and tell him. Do not be afraid.
I’ve recently experienced something like this. What I decided to do was to text him and tell him I was unhappy with how we left things. He was glad I came to him and we met up to talk through it. We decided to get back together since we both cared about each other. Not every situation is like that though, I’m aware that some people don’t have good relationships with their exes or even current boyfriends, but I still suggest to take a leap of faith when it comes to this situation and to hope for the absolute best!!
