It sounds like he is very confused but also it sounds like he is confusing you too. Have you spoke to him about how you are feeling? it must be very hard to not to know where you stand with this guy, how long have you known him? I don't think convincing him is the answer because if he really wants to be with you he shouldn't need convincing. Maybe if you both sat down together and talked through your concerns and discuss how you are both feeling. Talking to each other could be the best way to move forward.
