He needs space to emotionally and mentally understand himself better; he'll update you when he has better understanding. Just focus on yourself so you can get through the waiting period with as much grace and comfortability as you can - it'll demonstrate your security in yourself and in your relation with him. It may be tempting to take the path of least resistance, which could be to worry and worry and worry - or it could be the opposite, which is to distract yourself and push *him* further away by rejecting him or whatever means so you can feel safe. However, both of those protest behaviors won't achieve your quiet, true goal, which is to feel connected with him. So bank on trust that you'll be okay and take care of yourself.

He probably needs some time to figure out what he is going through, alone. Sometimes it’s best to be alone without thinking about others problems and all of that. Its not always about you so don’t worry too much, I’m sure everything will work out after he’s made his mind up.
