Hi there!
This may seem a bit late, given that this was posted last year, but I'll try nonetheless :)
I could make some suggestions:
1. Clubs/Organizations/Volunteering: Clubs and organizations are great for meeting new people. The nice thing about is that you can find one that resonates well with your interests so it might make it easier to connect with others.
2. Classes: Classes gives you the opportunity to meet people by formulating study groups/sessions. If you like, you can find 1/2 people to sit next to in class, introduce yourself, start a small conversation, and exchange contact information. When exam time comes, or even before then, you can come together and help each other out.
3. Dorms: I know for my dorm, they hold events on a frequent basis. It might be useful to check those out - it might help you meet new individuals that live in the same dorm as you do. Reaching out to your roommate might help also - They are in close proximity and might even be in the same position of trying to find a support network for themselves
I hope that was helpful!

Going to a new environment where everything is new can be a scary experience. Just take it as a journey. One step at a time. Appreciate when things turn out good and learn when things turn out bad.

Staying active in social media and keeping others updated is one of the easiest ways of sustaining your old network and even growing it.
