It's very hard to beat depression by yourself, and it's so easy to feel walled off, powerless and alone when you have an episode of depression. For me, depression has always been a shadow in the background (my family has a history of it) but I've learned strategies to cast light on it and manage it. I have an internal nightlight now to help me fight my fear of the dark.
Reaching out to friends and listeners helps. Find ways to live at peace in your body (exercise, mindfulness, taking small steps, making small motions). Professional therapy helps too by giving you another perspective on your problems. Being a Listener here at 7cups helps! :)
Reaching out is the first step. It's good you found your way here! Welcome – you are not alone.
