The first thing to do would be to establish the source of your reason to think that you're depressed; because it would really help for you to understand the underlying cause of your current mental state. If you really have depression, it would do you real good to discuss this with your parents. The fear of not being understood often comes in the way of us trying to avoid discussing this with anyone in person. It's more easier online because our fear of being judged and misunderstood is minimized. No one understands your position better than you, but if you think that your parents don't understand your mental state, try educating them on that beforehand by perhaps making them accustomed to some reliable and well written articles about depression and how to deal with it and their role as parents to handle the situation. That would give you an insight to their understanding of the condition. It is always best to speak with someone who can guide you through this stage. I wish you best of luck with it and let me know if you need any help ! :)

You could talk to a professional therapist with your parents, or speak with a therapist alone and then ask the therapist to help talk to your parents. Many times it could also help to talk to a psychiatrist who can possibly diagnose you with depression. Sometimes if a doctor formally says that you are struggling with something, parents will believe them, and psychiatrists are often very experienced with explaining mental health issues to parents who have never experienced them. Seeking professional help could also greatly help you manage depression, as they are able to give tips and advice, as well as listen and prescribe medicine if they think it could help you. Good luck, I'm sure once they understand what you are going through more, they will be supportive and do their best you help you!
