Personally I don't remember what it was like to have depression since I have had it for so long. But I'm going to guess you know that your loved and have friends who would do anything for you. You have parents who care and talk to you like a friend more than a parent. Everything is going great in life. Either you're doing well at work or are making really good grades in school

Like being free as a bird to fly any where you want. It's like a huge weight that gets lifted once depression is over.

Not being depressed is being able to avoid taking little things for granted, and being able to believe in your dreams. It is being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

A freedom of emotional expression, emotions are not as mixed s they are used to be, emotions and how to show them makes sense.

Not being depressed allows you to become more self aware. You are able to focus on things that will help you to become a better person. While you are depressed, you are unable to cope with hardly any situations and are unable to move forward with correcting the wrongs in your life.

Being happy and content, the opposite of depressed, feels like you are content in your life and in a good place where you can enjoy things, have motivation, confidence, and an overall positive outlook. Everyone deserves this feeling, although it's completely normal to be a bit down at times!

Dealing with depression is the most difficult thing I have ever encountered. Helplessness, addiction issues, nightmares, and anxiety follow. Helping others, helps myself. Not understanding why you feel certain ways is a son of a bitch, and after 30 years of dealing with it, I still have no answers. I harbor compassion and understand the fear involved.

Immense peace and joy fills up your inner being and you feel like you're on top of the world. You're finally joyful and can voice it out loud and you feel limitless, selfless and joyful! You want to help others, so they can feel the joy that you feel!

I too have had a lifelong struggle with depression, and only now am I having the courage to fight and overcome. To not be depressed is to change your perception of your life, knowing that joy does not come from circumstances. It is to shift your perspective of reality, realizing that sadness and failure may be a part of life, that the perfectionistic standards you hold for yourself may be idealistic and impossible to achieve. Not being depressed means to see yourself as worthy of love and belonging, and acting accordingly, such as eating the right foods that are good for your body, loving your body through sleep and exercise, and loving yourself through confiding in friends or even sometimes giving yourself time off from toxic people.

Not being depressed is an enormous burden evaporating through your pores allowing your body to breathe and your mind to wonder all the wonderful possibilities in which you can prosper , in which you can fall in love with , in which you find harmony between what you value and desire. Not being depressed is when your heart is no longer heavy like a dripping sponge but anewed where it can feel accepted and loved. Where your limbs contain this bendable free energy that can take you worlds across. Not being depressed is freedom.

To be depressed is like walking in the rain with no one, neither you nor people around you recognizing your tears for the rain that drops on your cheeks. To not be depressed is the feeling of the gentle wind that blows through your hair and the sunshine after the rain.

My experience is of course different than others.I think, it felt quite normal I guess. There were highs, there were lows and thses combined to make it a great experience. But, in depression everything is just awful and "awful" is the new normal.

There is no such thing not to be depressed, we all get depressed at some point. It's just that you, and some people overthink about your problems.

For those that have experienced depression for a large part of their lives, it's more about learning to cope with it. First acknowledging the depression and understanding how it may manifest (for example, if it is seasonal). Some that may experience depression who seek out additional support (through therapy, medication, support systems, or whatnot) can learn how to cope with depression. So it is possible to "not be depressed" after experiencing episodes of depression for a large part of life. It's about HOW you cope with the emotions and what supports you can access. Needless to say, there will be some times where episodes may flare up and it feels like you are at square one but again accessing what has helped in the past can be super impactful to combating long-term depression.
