Being depressed is bad because it makes you think of the worst possible thing. It makes you overthink. It creates a problem which only exists in your mind and so you keep worrying even though there's nothing to worry about. Depression is bad that is why it is called mental illness.

I don't think it is. I think it's hard. I think it makes life difficult and can be painful and exhausting and wear on your relationships. But, it's not BAD. It just is. No one is bad for having depression. It's just, most people want someone with depression to go to therapy and possibly try medication because they want an easier, happier, more fulfulling life for their friend.

The difference is that depression is more profound and much more than just a mood. It involves other things such as a feeling of loss of energy, inability to meet a challenge and a negative self image. You are right. It is beyond 'sad'. Although, you may draw no comfort from this fact, that although the condition is very common it is easily misunderstood by those who have never actually experienced it. Yes, she needs help although she will most probably reject it strongly. She needs to receive the kind of counselling that only a true professional in the field can offer. She also needs your help. The help that only someone that loves her can offer. Love is strong and should never be underestimated.

Depression weighs you down. It causes you to think about things that aren't true... it tells you you don't matter, you're worthless, not good enough, better off dead. It makes it hard to get out of bed in the morning, and nearly impossible to be happy. Depression sucks, which is why it's important to seek help if you have it.

Who says? Its not bad....just like every emotion its pure and if u feel low its okay because that means u will come out stronger. Yeah but u dont need to show it because at times people take advantage. Being depressed means taking a break from being happy to sort out feelings and probably also realize the importance of happiness

A voice inside you is screaming out for help but the words won't come out, and all you want is help.

Being depressed isn't bad it's just a different state of mind. Depression doesn't need to overrule your life, it can be a factor, the way we deal and cope with depression are what defines it. If anything, when recovering from depression, how your overcome your negative feelings shows much more about the person you've become!

Because we all deserve much much better. And why choose to suffer when you can fight and win? Make sense?

Depression in itself is not inherently bad. Depression alters your feelings , and feelings are what we make of them. It we focus and become attached to depressed feelings, they feel bad and uncomfortable, even painful. But if we learn to be mindful and distance ourselves from those feelings, we can recognize them for what they really are. Just simple emotions.

This is my opinion but I think being depressed is bad because you deserve to be happy. You are a great person and deserve happiness.

I think being depressed is bad as it affects the way a person sees themselves and the world. It can also cause them to harm themselves. No one should think or feel this way.

If left untreated, depression can have serious — and sometimes long-term — consequences that can affect every aspect of your life.

It's not that it's "bad," per se, but it doesn't feel good. Most people want to feel good and in control of their lives, and depression takes all of that away. It's heavy and uncomfortable and clouds your vision. I don't know anyone who wants to live like that.

Depression can be bad for many reasons. This can be because it can hinder your drive to be successful and do well for yourself. It can also be painful for other people to see you in bad way, especially loved ones. It can also make it hard to keep relationships with those you love if they aren't to understanding of your situation. It can also be detrimental on your health, making you stressed, or unable to cope with the demands of life.

Because it makes you feel hopeless and lifeless, you lack energy to do things and miss out on such wonderful experiences. You remain trapped in negativity and your mind drives you mad.

Being depressed is bad because you lost interest in activities you used to enjoy, love feeling isolated and lonely than socializing with others ad not wanting to leave your bed in the morning.

Depression itself is a negative feeling because you are made to feel bad about yourself, which may be for many different reasons, it can also be bad because a lot of things such as self harm and addiction are linked to depression. If you do feel depressed, it is important to contact your friends, family, or someone that you trust about this issue as they may be able to work directly with you with helping you to become someone who does not experience depression frequently.

It's not at all, actually. Though, it can "feel" bad. It's not bad to be depressed, though. It's okay to be low and weighted.

Depression can escalate from a general "feeling down" to suicidal thoughts. When I was depressed I wanted to isolate myself from friends and family, thereby denying myself the support and help available from my social network. Isolation tends to magnify feelings of worthlessness and the spiral of negative thoughts can lead to all sorts of harmful ideas. Self-harm, suicide and the like. It's so important to reach out as soon as possible.

Being depressed disables you from your day to day activities. You tend to want to be alone and not be very productive. There is a lack of sleep and nutrition which keeps wearing you down. You become distant from those that care about you. You tend to overthink which leads to irrational thinking at times and can lead to bad choices.

Because you let yourself fail in-front of all the miseries without even fighting back. Don't do that. Don't loose your heart and soul .

Being depressed is bad because you are hurting yourself and hindering oppurtunities for yourself. It isn't healthy for you and causes a lot of emotional pain to you and others and you can even resort to physical pain so it is more of a thing where you are just hurting yourself and need help.

Being depressed is not bad in a moral sense. Suffering depression is bad in the sense that any kind of suffering is bad - for how it feels. Beyond that, it can easily sap your life of its true full potential. It is bad only in that you were not meant to suffer, and you do deserve relief from your suffering.

if left untreated, depression can be deadly - so many lives are lost each year to depression, and if any other illness was stigmatised in the way that depression was, there would be a public outcry. depression is as legitimate an illness as any other. at best, it can leave you feeling tired, upset, alone and hopeless, and at worst it can lead you to feeling suicidal. it is so important to try and treat depression and recover from it, because everyone's life is so incredibly valuable.

It's not such a bad thing. We all go through it. And it's not because we purposly want it, but during the ups and down in life we get stressed and feel weak that's when we are depressed. And im sure we all go make through this :)

it's not bad in terms of being shameful or something to feel guilty about. depression is only bad when it affects your life. not many people understand that depression can take a great toll and be debilitating on a person. it can get severe over time if not treated as soon as possible and most effectively. some people suffer from things like brain injury due to prolonged mental illnesses such as depression, severe body pain, etc. and it can all be at once, the symptoms, as well.

I don't consider depression 'bad' as such, I think it can just be very difficult to deal with at times and often makes a sufferer incredibly lonely / isolated from society. It can often affect physical health too.

Being depressed is not something bad at all, it is an emotional stage that many people go through. People may see it as bad as it makes you feel tired, empty and a lack of energy. Hope this helped.
