The fear that a rapist will retaliate after serving a jail sentence is natural and understandable. For most rapist the crime is about having power and control over others. By facing up to your rapist their power was taken away. Talk to people you trust about your fears - friends, law enforcement a rape counsellor for example and let them help you to manage your fears.

As long as he's in there, you have no reason to be afraid. Unless someone bails him out, you should be safe, but them getting bailed out is very unlikely.

From a personal experience there is an online help called vine.com. it alerts the victims as soon as the person is being released.

A good way to reduce that fear is facing why you are afraid. Take defence classes or carry pepper spray with you Take small steps to be prepared in case anything had to happen. Once you know that you can take care of yourself you may feel more at peace since you stop depending on anything else. After my experience of rape, I used to be scared even if strangers glanced at me. Being prepared helped me and maybe it might help you too! :)

sign up in some martial art or thing like that, not only for your rappist but so that YOU become strong and FEEL strong and rebuild the confidence you lost after the incident .

Honestly I think that fear will always be with you. You can take extra precautions and stay near someone you know.
