Would you care to elaborate? What flashbacks do you speak of exactly? And how do they affect you exactly?

I wish they would stop but sadly they don't. Flashbacks are way for us to cherish the wonderful memories and reflect on the painful phase we had gone through. It may be difficult in the beginning, we are flooded with flashbacks about a person when we listen to a particular song, visit a particular place or activities that remind us of them. Time heals everything, so give the time some time. As time progresses everything will become alright and the flashbacks are way to cherish the wonderful memories that we shared and the painful times which we went through makes us think how we managed to come out the phase as a strong person!!
Firstly, I am sorry for what happened to you. Whatever it is, it must be a really bad situation.
I believe that flashbacks resulted from trauma will stop when the trauma has been fully processed. There are steps to process that, and each step differs for each person. First, safety and building the skills to cope with the trauma. Second, making meaning from the traumatic experience. And finally, building identity outside of the trauma.
I wanna encourage you to look for help and talk through the trauma. It might be hard in the beginning, and the journey might be long. But to make it stop, you need to take the first step!
"The world breaks everyone and afterwards many are strong at the broken places" (William Shakespeare).
