It might be that your therapist doesn't have a good understanding of eating disorders and disordered eating. It can be hard to try and 'educate therapists' when they are the ones who need to be learning on their own.
It may help to think about where your therapist is trying to go; if your therapist does consider your disordered eating a diet, how do they plan to help you?
First of all, is by word therapist meant psychotherapist? If not, they can have got issues understanding that your disordered eating is not a diet. Especially if you go to physiotherapist for fitness they can think that you just wish to be more fit, nothing else. But if you go to psychotherapist for your disordered eating, you need to search for psychotherapist who is expert in disordered eating. Not all psychotherapists therapists are expert in disordered eating. Such as everyone, also psychotherapists have got their field of work in which they are best (if they don't specialize in one area) and fields of work which they aren't good in so much. Communicate well with your psychotherapist on what are they expert in and which disorder do you have and what do you wish from them.
