Those people who don't eat don't have self control. They have a lack of it. They have a lack of willpower to start eating when they know it's good for them. You don't want to be like that, trust me. I'm in that situation.
First of all, everyone eats. Anorexics eat--if we didn't eat at all we'd be dead within weeks. No one can go without eating forever. And secondly, your mind and your body want you to continue eating because food is so, so necessary for every part of life. It's not about having self control or not--it's about eating being a basic biological function that your brain is wired to make your body perform no matter what, and doing so isn't bad at all! The fact that you're eating is so, so good and I'm really glad that you are. Healthy methods of weight loss are more effective in the long run and won't make you suicidal, so I'd definitely suggest giving those a try instead of turning to starvation, which not only doesn't truly work will probably leave you dead.
Firstly, don't compare yourself to anyone else. You are you and not them. Having said that, your body requires food to function at its best and going without eating can be dangerous. If you are concerned about your weight, speak to your doctor and/or a nutritionist.
In a way, it's a good thing that you can't do that to yourself. It's much harder for them to recover because it is so deeply and truely a part of them. The thing I would hate to see happen to you is that the eating disorder becomes your identity. Please don't let that be so.
Why would you want that self control? You need to eat and going with out eating has its side effects. You should be happy that you haven't got that kind of self control.
We're all programmed in different ways. We all have needs of our own and eating is yours. If you work at it and become determined to succeed, you'll begin to gain self control in time. We can all gain control of our selves it just takes support and dedication.
It really depends on your appetite. Different people have different appetite. If you think you are eating to much then instead of munching on unhealthy snacks try changing to an healthy alternative.
if you feel like you don't have self control over what you eat you won't but if you believe you can you well be able to control how much you eat and what you eat. you can do it. it's not easy at first but then you well be happy you changed
It does not only depends on whether you have self-control but also on how your body works. I've had some experience with the above mentioned problem too. My sister is really fit and healthy, while I on the other hand am overweight. This is despite the fact that i can go a whole day without eating while she can't. It all depends on how and when your body responds.
Because you don't know that you are emotional eating. It is not your fault. You think it is, but trust me it is not. Somtimes, you eat to soothe your fears, sometimes to fight boredom, you are doing it for you but not in your best interests. You don't know that yet, but you will. But you will know- It is not a matter of self-control, it is just a matter of habit. You can always change your habits. You only need to know how. It is not a matter of why, it is a matter of how. Everyone's body is different. Some people have bigger appetites, some people have digestive issues, and some people just react to situations differently. You cannot change yourself by forcing yourself not to eat when you end up going back to it in emotional situations. The best you can do is try to control your own eating habit by finding other things to distract you or eating healthy foods like fruit when you feel like eating your feelings up. Just remember that the people who don't eat when they are emotional aren't doing it because of self-control. Its just that eating doesn't give them the comfort that they need in that moment of time. People have different metabolisms and different needs. You might just need more energy or less energy than others. That being said, our eating habits might be a manifestation of bigger things that happen within us. Sometimes we use our eating behaviors as a way to feel "in control" when we feel like we don't have control in our lives. Rather than a cause in and on itself, eating disorders are a manifestation of such feelings. Therapy, support from friends and family are the most important things to have to overcome such things. It takes courage to open up and recognize the problem, but once that is achieve, there's only advance. However, you might also suffer the opposite: you might see yourself as a compulsive eater when in reality you're not. In this cases the principles are similar: recognizing the problem, therapy and support. Keeping motivated through such things is hard, specially because sometimes you really *don't* want to give in or recognize you have a problem. But it is not your fault, and you're not alone. Think of all the benefits, all the people that care about you and the good you'll do to yourself. You deserve to be happy, and comfortable on your own skin. It's never easy, but it is in no way impossible.
