Firstly, figure out what specific foods trigger your anxiety. Secondly, consider the situations that make you feel anxiety. Chances are, an event happened that caused anxiety and led you to comfort yourself with food. By assessing your situation, you'll be able to recognize what triggers the event and be able to avoid it or figure out a better way to handle the situation.

Check in with a specialist to identify if there are any underlying issues like am eating disorder that may make food super triggery. I found it very helpful to work with a counselor specializing in eating disorders, and the practice's nutritionist who specialized in eating disorders.

Talk to either a counsellor, or a 7 cups of tea anxiety listener about it and figure out coping strategies.

Try not being around a lot of food you will be overwhelmed. Start with baby steps just try to be around food for yourself first then work your way up to fight away the anxiety.

Take a deep breathe, always have water around, and take a sip. Don´t try to get rid of a craving, just drink water :-)

If things are really bad, if the challenge is too great, then it's important that you don't keep certain foods in your house. Food can be substance abuse, and like the alcoholic or drug addict, you don't want the drugs within reach - if possible. Keep healthy foods around so when you binge, and you will probably binge, it will be on healthy foods that fill you up. Next, meditation is extremely helpful. Mandatory. Calm the psyche. Still the thoughts. Find peace, contentment, and joy. That then leads to discovering your talents and skills. Being creative. You'll want to learn ways of expressing yourself in healthy ways. You'll be moving forward. If you're waiting for the food anxiety to go away before you start living, you'll be waiting for many years. We have to live with our anxieties, to some extent. But that doesn't keep us from living life healthy and well - as we can. All the best.

In my experience it is best to take some quiet time alone and write in a journal about what you would like to eat that day so that you do not feel overwhelmed
