It's easy to use food to numb your feelings. I have struggled with it. Since we need food to survive, we use that to justify overeating and such. However, overeating aka binge eating is an addiction. It's the same as any other addiction. It's a disease. It should be treated and managed in the same way. For me, I battle food addiction every day. Some days are easier than others. Some are worse. But, I treat it as I would alcoholism. I take it one day at a time, one hour at a time, if necessary. It's a tough battle. But, it can be fought. I would suggest talking to a listener or a therapist, attend a support group meeting and see how things go. Also, find a distraction. When you get that urge to eat your feelings, call someone. Read a book. Hang out on 7 cups. Any thing other than giving in to your addiction.
