Looking at human history, more groups were suffering before, which would have been unacceptable or unthinkable nowadays. A lot of people still get discriminated, abused mentally and physically just because they belong to a group. We'll get there. It's up to us to be accepting, show others how to do the same, and teach our children.

I hope one day we could. I feel like we are getting there. Times are changing, people are more open about themselves, and others are "forced" to deal with it. One day, there would be no need to "deal with it", hopefully.

Because that, my dear one, is what we call a utopia. Sadly this is not going to happen anytime soon as humanity has always looked down on varity within sexuality.

I think that there are various reasons that we can't just give in a world where everyone is treated as a human regardless. They seem to me to be a mixture of cultural and religious reasons. Some cultures are highly critical anything they consider out of the 'norm'. And the 'norm' usually includes sexual orientation. So anyone who falls outside that range is ostracised, vilified or worse. There are also the 'religious' elements which come into play. The more fundamental members of different religions will quote their Holy texts where they supposedly state that sex is solely for reproduction and not for pleasure, and that sex with someone of the same gender is an abomination. It's only when we manage to overcome these prejudices that we stand any chance at all of living in a world where a person;s sexuality is entirely their own business ands not a cause for judgement as long as it harms no-one else.

That would be wonderful, but sadly, prejudice still controls a lot of people, cultural stereotypes and closed-minded environments have any influence on many people. But the change is happening. Not as fast as we would like, unfortunately, but the world has changed a lot in the last few decades. And it will keep on changing towards inclusivity, thanks to all the people who believe in equality and keep on fighting for a world where everyone is equal. Sometimes we might feel discouraged, but we are part of the change to, so we can get our strength from mutual support and keep the fight on. We found a more inclusive world than our parents or grandparents, and it's up to us to leave an even better one for the future generations. We are part of something very hard, sometimes frustrating, but possible.

I am a lesbian. I wish others treated me the same way they would treat any one else. It's not fair that this world has come down to this. Everyone should be treated equally. I am happily married to my wife. We are both humans, aren't we? What is so different about us compared to any other straight married couple? I can't think of anything thats different. We are all the same. There are some people that we know that don't treat us right. But there are also some other people that do treat us the right way and then don't understand why others dont.

i wish we could. i believe that some people are afraid of change, afraid of people who are different to them. homophobia is never acceptable, and i have personally dealt with it and i know it’s horrible

When the world evolves, evil evolves with it. Even if we all, as a society, moved on from our past mistakes and bettered ourselves, new problems would arise. Plus, some people are afraid of change, and refuse to let go of familiar, outdated ideals. It's an amazing fantasy to wish up a world where everyone is treated equal, but in reality, all we can do is work towards that perfection. It's just sadly reality we'll never be that perfect society. We can get better, get closer, but humans just seem to hate other humans, and the cycle continues on and on and on. It's heartbreaking in some ways, but all we can do is make it better, not perfect.

Well, in short, our world sucks. But we can't just presume to know that if the world was like this, it would definitely be a better place.

I wish. And while we're there, let's add race, gender, religion, beliefs, and money state to the mix. As long as your beliefs don't affect anyone elses life in a negative way, you should be respected.

Unfortunately, due to the human condition and perpetuation of stigmas (especially through the media) it's difficult to find a society where people are treated fairly in accord to whatever they identify as sexually. I'm gay and trans myself and have had to think about this a lot growing up, and have seen through friends that these sorts of stigmas exist without cultural boundary. When a stigma sparks and is carried on, it's incredibly difficult to get rid of, sadly..

People are afraid of what they don't understand, so the look for comfort. Lots of people turn to the Bible, or another holy book, where it might say being gay is frowned upon. They will take it out of context and say gay is wrong, which makes them feel more comfortable with the world. They can't accept it because they don't fully understand it. In a world full of ignorance, equality is hard to come by.

Unfortunately, although I too would like for the world to treat everybody equally, people will always have different views and opinions than other people which is just life. However, sometimes it is best to keep those opinions to yourself as just because someone may not agree with something; doesn't mean they need to voice it out-loud.

Humanity, as a whole, fears and hates what it does not understand. Because they cannot understand why others love the way they do, they hate them instead.

I don't know. People are judgmental and don't understand that it is not a choice and we can't change. Hopefully the next generation will be accepting and understanding.

The way I see it is that the human mind is very complicated. We tend to judge things based on our beliefs and what we grew up with. In time, whether or not we decided to accept certains depends on experiences that challenge our perception. Just as there are many personalities in this world, there are many opinions towards various human conditions including sexuality.

I personally wish everyone was treated as a human regardless of sexuality. Unfortunately, we live in a very judgmental society that is consumed with politics and discrimination. And everyone believes that their opinion is the ONLY one that is morally right.

We can't. Why? Religion, tradition, and apparently "by the laws of nature". I wish we all could live in a world of tolerance, though.

Because ignorant people still exist. They don't understand what it's like and never will to a degree. I believe in a few generations we will finally get there but only if we spread awareness of the issue.

Some people were raised with the idea the being gay is wrong. A lot of people were raised with the idea that being gay is a sin, according to their religion. When people are raised to think this, it can be difficult for them to see the other side of things and reconsider a viewpoint that they've had their whole life.

thats a great question. unfortunately, so many people are afraid of what is different. i know its not fair. i have been through my fair share of hate because of sexuality too. just stay true to your self. be who you are and dont let anyone bring you down. i wish you all the best. stay strong

It's difficult to answer that question, as the answer is that we should be able to. If it's any consolation, there is progress in some parts of the world, and hopefully equality will continually spread and advance.

I have always wondered the same thing. That would be the ideal world, but sadly not everyone agrees. I think people who don't agree, don't know so they are scared. If that makes sense. I feel that they are prejudiced, and are scared of the unknown. When in reality, a person should just do whatever makes them happy. I wish everyone would understand. But, one person at a time, maybe we can make people understand.
