People's reaction to a coming out are not always easy to predict. However, a lot depends on their mindset, their upbringing, and most importantly, your relationship with them. A true friend cares for us and wants us to be happy. If you really have a strong bond, they will accept you as you are, and in case they've grown up in a close-minded environment, they may challenge this mentality because of their friendship for you. Just make sure to be open with them and let them know how it feels to be who you are, how you found out about it, what it means for you, and also what your fears are. The deeper they get to know the real you, the more likely they'll be to understand how you feel and empathize. Also, let them know that you're ready to answer their questions, if they have any. Those who will stay by your side no matter what will be your real friends!

Coming out as LGBTQ can be really tough! There's a lot to worry about when it comes to any member of our family or friends and how they respond. This said, coming out can be really rewarding and fulfilling. Coming out allows us to get allies and be accepted for who we really are. When it comes to if/when friends judge you, it's always important to keep in mind who doesn't. You cannot control others, and there may be people that you hang out with now that won't respect you in the same way later. Because of this, Start small, with your closest friends. Get strong allies that will support you if the worst case scenario comes to pass. Try coming out to your best friends first! If they're really your best friends, They'll accept you no matter what. If they don't accept you, then there may be a lot that you might want to talk about with a listener here on 7 Cups. You're not alone, and we're rooting for you. Good luck, and stay safe!!!
