I have helped and am helping people cope with loss, divorce, anguish and parenting. Depression is also a major issue that comes up.

Patience. Trying to replace negative self-talk with hope and more smiles. Having someone there who is ready to catch you if you fall. Not being afraid that if you fall once, all will be over. You are gonna bet better. Trust that.

Always professional help. Trying to get over it on your own could have devastating consequences. Friends and family are important too, but therapy is the key to overcoming PTSD.

Don't be afraid to confront your emotions, recognize how you feel because of what you went through. Don't be afraid to mentally relive your experience(s). Also, embrace your loved ones, open up and talk to them.

Talk to somebody and share your problems. Don't be afraid to tell somebody what is on your mind. Problems always feel lighter when they're not on your chest.

The best way to get over PTSD is to see a therapist who specializes in PTSD and talk to them about what you're experiencing and come up with a game plan with strategies for coping. Joining local support groups for PTSD would be helpful, and chatting with people on 7 Cups of Tea about what you're going through can also help. There are others in our community who deal with PTSD and it can be a great relief to realize you're not alone in what you're going through. Best of luck, friend.

If you feel that you have PTSD, and have been diagnosed (or even un-diagnosed), the best way for you to find the help and support that you need is to seek help through a healthcare provider such as a psychiatrist or psychologist. And also speaking with somebody like a counselor or therapist can help you with your emotions.

Working with an experienced mental health professional whose treatment style works well with your personality. Ideally they would also work with a hypnotherapist who is likewise trained in working with PTSD so that the herbalist can address the conscious issues (including medication if appropriate) and the hypnotherapist can address the subconscious issues, which are a huge part of the mechanism of PTSD.

PTSD can have a wide range of levels of concern, and there is likely a number of ways to address it. Certainly, this is something that is best addressed with a good therapist, surrounded by a good support structure of friends and family when possible.
